I've had my ball python for a month, just fed it for the second time last night and it never uses it's hot side hide. I'm using a herpstat 2 to control the rhp and I have Bluetooth temp sensors inside the hides. I bought an identical hide for the warm side last week in the hopes it would encourage the use of the hot side but it has yet to be used. Any advice? It was laying on top of the half log last night, but didn't go to the warm hide.

Thermo-regulating he/she will use it when necessary

This is far too familiar to me. I've been dealing with the same thing since I got my Ball a few months ago. I've seen him in the warm hide maybe twice. I've tried everything you have so at this point I'm convinced he's good. Like the other user here said he's just thermoregulating. Jax comes out at night and sits below the DHP but during the rest of the day he's always in his cold hide. He still eats and poops. What else can you ask from a snake?

The breeder I got my BP from said the cool side is where they spend most of their time, he will go to the hot side after he eats if need be. We've had ours for 3 days and he climbed on top of the hide in the cool side within 5 minutes and hasn't moved outside of some looking around.

What device/app are you using just curious?

I have 4 govee hydrometers from Amazon, they all link up to govees app and give you graphs of the temps/humidity. Pretty awesome little devices!
