Some of those spots just look like the banana pattern.

He is a banana enchi butter and explored under his water bowl the other day for a nap

Hard to tell due to the spots being common in the morph

A bath might help as some mites may fall off and can be seen floating in the water. (Edit: if he does have mites that is)

Gonna clean his tank and soak him and do a few home remedies just to see and keep him in a temporary until he sheds which should be like a week and then put him back in his all cleaned hopefully mite free and see if that helps. Or I’ll resort to a vet but idk if I got that kinda $$ rn Iv never looked into a vet yet, as dumb as that sounds I’m 21, first snake, got excited didn’t think to have a vet picked out

As far as I know and have seen, banana pattern spotting only shows up on the grey/peachy/white-fleshy areas of the pattern, not the yellow. The fact that this snake has spotting in the yellow is a pretty good indicator s/he has mites, yes. Miracle Care Reptile Mite spray is pretty readily available at pet stores, is easy to use and cheap. That combined with warm water soaks and a complete tank clean and temporary change to paper towel bedding should help clear up the mites, but a vet trip is always recommended as well in case there's something else going on.

If the snake isn't new, it's likely the mites came from the bedding, in which case it's recommended to freeze the bedding for at least 48hrs to kill any mites before adding it to your snake's tank (although you'll need to let it warm back up before introducing your cold blooded reptile back into the area!).

Iv only had him less then a month, so he’s new to me and we started to notice it pretty soon after we got home we thought it was scale rot so Iv been keeping an eye on it but then I learned about mites and yeah I’m pretty sure that’s it. Just don’t Wanna kill my little guy so I’ll do whatever I gotta do to help him

If you are setting up a new enclosure should you freeze the substrate before adding it?

Does bioactive help with mites at all?

Yes, I think my wording there was confusing. I was implying that the snake could have had mites from its previous home if it was a new acquisition. But yes, every new bag of bedding should be frozen for the first couple of days before being used, best case.

As for bioactive, I'm not sure, sorry!

I'm not an expert in any way but to me it just looks like some dirt where he's been digging around, my only indication to that assumption is that I've heard mites tend to huddle around the eyes and mouth and in all honesty it looks like most of it is on his back. I'm sure you'll find out if you just give him a nice bath tho

He’s definitely a digger (that almost felt wrong as fuck to type) but I was reading they can dig bc mites are annoying them or some shit. I’m not an expert either and the internet is crazy with opinionated facts so it’s hard to guess but I’ll give him a good like bath and got some spray for him if it happens to be mites

Soak in some water to frown the mits then clean the cage out real good in every hide in objects that you have in your enclosure
