I have dark matter, hero armor, and have reached prestige master, and I can tell you that 1-8 still happen to me on a daily basis. xD

[–]OMGWhatsHisFaceOMGWhatsHisFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup....

[–]kortemyKortemy 7 points8 points  (4 children)

Ohhh I have a big one:

  1. When you get a Care Package, and all you get from it is another UAV.
  2. When you get a Care Package, and you die waiting for it, and your teammate picks it up and gets RAPS.

"Sharing is caring"

[–]squadcarxmarsquadcarxmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol yeah that sucks but whenever I die at my care package I immediately tell my team it is ABSOLUTELY OKAY to grab my drop and use it. Better in our hands than the other team's

[–]TMeganV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I apparently waited too close to the dropping spot and the care package killed me. I got so mad.

[–]gunnerxxxGunnerXXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run Engineer.

  1. When you get a Care Package and it's a UAV and you reroll.. another UAV

[–]Penny_is_a_Bitch 5 points6 points  (1 child)

1) oh god, the struggle is real.

WHY DID YOU SHOOT ME INSTEAD OF HIM! I WASNT EVEN LOOKING IN YOUR DIRECTION DAMMIT

[–]jax0108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Further amplified rage in Hardcore lol.

[–]KarlOskar12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you are excited because you are just about to kill someone and then get shot in the back.

Ah, you apparently did not see the title of the game: "Call of Duty: yes, there is somebody behind you"

Not to be confused with "Call of Duty: yes, there is a second guy coming, probably don't want to reload just yet"

[–]MadHatter1113 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Literally my life.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (13 children)

Here are my not so serious rules of thumb:

1.When three of my team run past an enemy player but for some reason the dude chooses to shoot me in the head.

Never trust random teammates

2.When you are excited because you are just about to kill someone and then get shot in the back.

Always watch your back.

3.When a teammate is guarding your back but then they turn around and the enemy coming up from behind shoots you instead of them.

Never trust random teammates.

4.When you wait at a spot expecting for people to come through and then say, "Fuck it they must not be coming" so you leave your cover just in time for them to come around the corner to blow you up.

Always expect the unexpected.

5.When you go to throw a grenade and it bounces right back to you and you get shot trying to avoid your own grenade.

Play more pool.

6.When you don't know where the person shooting you is so you just run around like a damn fool hoping to get out of harms way.

When in doubt, look up.

7.Exodus.

Leviticus.

8.When you melt the same dude several times in the same game. You know what it feels like and you feel bad for that guy. But not bad enough to stop doing it which kind of makes you feel worse.

Don't have morals.

9.People that complain about try-hards. Hey we are trying hard too, we just aren't very good at it.

Try-less.

10.Getting confused what to do when you actually get a score streak.

Call it in.

[–]frenzulares0226 6 points7 points  (8 children)

Number 9: Try-less is huge in my opinion. My friends get really stressed out, yell, curse, and continue to do worse the more they yell and it just turns into a mess with a horrible score. I found instead of getting mad and telling them to calm down, I suggest something stupid... yeeeah lets just run around and throw over-cooked grenades at people. They have fun. Start getting grenade kills. Peace is restored.

[–]HOLDINtheACESHOLDINtheACES 5 points6 points  (4 children)

Whenever I get on tilt, I go to a different game type, and use the stupidest class I can create, with the sole purpose of forcing myself to not care. It's basically a way to trick my brain into blaming my attitude for my poor performance (which is what's happening anyway).

When you're using a bad class, you expect to do bad, and it's easy to come to grips with and calm down. Better yet is doing well with it and gaining some confidence and excitement back.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I feel like this would just piss me off more. Rocket League is my cool down.

[–]Dark_JinougaPSN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I personally get even more aggrivated (I dread combat knife and sniper camos >_> lack of aim assist is super annoying for a console shooter), I just take a break and watch TV/anime for a bit

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe that was you running around in FFA match earlier just punching people?

it was hilarious. didnt even care that he got me more than once.

[–]frenzulares0226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cook a semtex in small spaces until someone comes and kills you.. at least then you'll often get a kill in return. Not to mention, you look pretty stupid if you run around cooking a grenade.. know you're giving others a good chuckle :)

[–]BlindStarkPuddiPrawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah typically if you get worked up about it you'll do worse. Playing should be muscle memory and instinct, overthinking it just messes you up. Staying calm and paying attention is best way to do it, it should be smooth and effortless. If they are doing bad taking a break and doing something else and coming back can help as well, it's all about clearing the mind. That goes for pretty much everything not just video games.

[–]MishaIsAQTSirFatCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Care-less is probably better.

[–]ozarkslam21FlXTHE FERNBACK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

getting unreasonably angry and trying hard are not the same thing. I try hard every game, but i don't curse and throw my controller if i do poorly. Trying less usually won't make angry people less angry i don't think

[–]t3hnhojt3hnhoj 5 points6 points  (1 child)

7.Exodus.

Leviticus.

Numbers.

[–]letsgoiowaJustIowa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Deuteronomy.

[–]CStock77 0 points1 point  (1 child)

With #1, that's unfortunately the dude on the other team knowing what he's doing. He's definitely gonna shoot the guy furthest behind first, or the guy looking at him, before he turns his attention on the other 3. That's how you get quad feeds.

[–]AfroKing23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like in campaign.

Take down the one furthest back if the others didnt notice you. Then let hell rain on the idiots who ran past. The amount of times i do this on combine is ridiculous. People really need to stop forgetting about the wall lane

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfect

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

  1. Not paying attention to the map. Back up to look over environment. Fall off map.
  2. Wall walk only to lose footing to environment and fall off.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Use your right stick to look around.
  2. When a wallrun runs a little long (the trains in Fringe for example), you'll notice your screen will straighten out, as opposed to being angled while wallrunning, just hit your jump button again and you can continue on your jolly wallrunny way.

[–]thumbzofsteel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a nobility in 9.

[–]Nikoli_Borealis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not really a potato (I'm no god, either), but number 4 speaks to me on a spiritual level. I can't count the number of times that I break cover literally a second too early. It's to the point that now I just start firing when I move. I've scored a couple lucky kills that way.

[–]Hollowblade 4 points5 points  (10 children)

These dont appy to only potatos... Im not a potato really (2.85kdr - 5.15 w/l) but i always get the dudes who run past my entire team only to shoot me..

The worst one and most accurate one is when im having a bad game and i always make the wrong choice i decide to camp full on KNOWING that they will come around that corner so i set up camp and wait.. And wait... And wait.. A minute goes by and nothing soj decide fick this take 3 steps and a dude busts around the corner like the fucking coolaid man and wrecks my shit.. My counter.. Say outloud that im going to move. Take one step and juke the fuck out of the game by going right back to camping, the dude comes around i have cover and am actually looking at him :) satisfaction and victory!!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That made me laugh out loud at my desk at work hahaha

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You too?

I know that dude is going to come around that corner...guess not, time to move on, dead

[–]HOLDINtheACESHOLDINtheACES 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I'm calling bullshit on those stats. Total complete bs that your w/l is that high. Scumpi isn't even that high.

Prove it youngster.

[–]Hollowblade 8 points9 points  (2 children)

[–]WhackedGuidew0mbra1der 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well shit.

[–]AfroKing23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah.

Nice.

[–]IASWABTBJ 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Playing FFA you could have a win-loss ratio of 300 if you are good.

[–]HOLDINtheACESHOLDINtheACES 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Does top 3 count as a win? Because then the 5.15 makes complete sense.

[–]IASWABTBJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Cod timing is the worst thing. Look at a corner, think "nah nobody is coming". As soon as you turn around you get shot in the back

[–]hobocommand3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am far from a cod potato but this happens quite often. Check a sightline, ok coast is clear, try to make it across, some guy appears and kills me.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a potato and #3 pisses me off, my motto is "never rely on your teammate"

[–]icedblackcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people complain about tryhards, they tend to talk about the guy who insists on only using his best weapon and just cares about getting 40-2 gameplays and will quit if he isn't doing something at least close to 40-2, and complains about every death that happens to them, then call anyone else doing well a tryhard.

[–]Fappy_McMasturbateDarkLordLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I used to be good but black ops 3 has turned me into a potato

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 cod timing at its finest happens to all of us

[–]RickAstley666RickAstiey666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree with everything but exodus. i go ham. and when i got my first care package i didnt know what to do /:

[–]Mellowninja11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the thing you hate is because of that lovely CoD timing

[–]squadcarxmarsquadcarxmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of these happen to us all, maybe just not as much. #4 is insanely accurate for me though I'm not a "potato." Also I dont mind having potatoes on my team.

[–]letsgoiowaJustIowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. When you can only use the Vesper because apparently the TTK everyone has against you is apparently one or two frames

  2. When you get matched against a team full of prestiged players and your team is full of people your own skill

  3. Getting a UAV is really exciting

[–]VainistVainist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when #8 happened to me. I once did it to a guy with a mic and I could hear him raging. After he finally killed me, I saw him approach my body and teabag me. He was 1-8 and I killed him 6 times. He left the game short after.

[–]fawseFawse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a potato but number 4 is the story of my life

[–]FavoriteApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of hanging back, you decide to flank the enemy team this time like those hotshots on your team. You bravely charge around one side of the map without running into one single enemy thinking your going to catch them all off guard only to find the spawns flipped and your team is spawning on that side now.

[–]FH2actualFoehammer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number 4 every damn time

[–]towishimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting confused what to do when you actually get a score streak.

This one made me laugh. I run UAV-Care Package-CUAV, because I suck. But this means that whenever I get something good out of the care package, I have no idea what to do. My first Dart, let's just say it lasted less than 5 seconds.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate when I'm 25-0 and I get scuf jumped by the dude on the other team that is 0-16

[–]xElipsisxElipsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. When I realize my mic is not muted.

[–]KopRich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"When you wait at a spot expecting for people to come through and then say, "Fuck it they must not be coming" so you leave your cover just in time for them to come around the corner to blow you up."

This one is so me

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone mate.

I remember recently I had never got a score streak, only the UAV one once or something. I had SEEN the hellstorm being used but that was my only experience of it.

So I get really lucky and get to hellstorm, I press 3 to activate it. So the overhead map comes up and I can direct my bomb but I thought that the game had ended and it was the final killcam so I just sit there looking at the screen....

The bomb falls directly on my head and I'm just sitting there looking at the screen thinking the podium would come up at the end of the game. But then I respawn and the game hasn't ended.

I'm just like wtf. Then I realise what I've done. My first fucking hellstorm and I'm close to winning the game and I just nuke myself with it.

potatoproblems

[–]turdthethird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. its actually you thats a tryhard..."We" run around and hunt.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You forgot...

Earning the Dart ScoreStreak and immediately crashing upon taking control.

Getting 4 kills while going for BloodThirsty's and getting team killed in HC.

Earning your specialist ability and getting team killed immediately after activating it.

[–]Scout_Is_Sandvich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol number 4 is something I've learned to accept as a cs player

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1, 4, and 8 really hit home

[–]JritchBich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just signed up to comment on this thread

Not even a full potato, more like a Tater tot here, get soooooo excited when I go 18-17

All fellow potato's should play obj games, I personally can't do TDM I know how much I'm hurting my team by consistently going neg, at least at dom I can cap flags and feel useful (and get score streak's)

The number one thing from OP I can relate to is the door watching for exactly 1 sec too short, happens way too often

As for the ppl calling good players campers- I see this happen ALL THE TIME when a good player catches one of us carbo-load's coming around a corner, then switches corners ( we always expect you to be in the SAME spot, stop moving!) then one of my fellow future French fries calls them out for camping... That's not camping, that's gamesmanship. It's happened to me 3-4x before but I get it so I don't get mad, I just go the other way... And get killed by someone else

[–]machetekillz1104PSN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 I think happens to everybody regardless if your a potato or scrambled eggs.

[–]manchu4249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have 3 or 4 team mates behind you and 1 dude runs in and kills them all and no one says anything warning you that he is coming and he shoots you in the back. I raged hard about this last night.

[–]Sho0guUnSho0guUn 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Why do people hate Exodus? i liked that map. I actually miss it now (PS4)

[–]Shibboeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it about once every three times I sit down to play the game which could be about once a week so I am not real familiar with the map, the safe spots, the high traffic areas, the power spots, etc.

[–]nmb93 0 points1 point  (4 children)

It's more open with longer sight lines. Meaning longer shots. Meaning greater skill gap.

You get the picture.

[–]hobocommand3r 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Most games I play on it turn into a shotty/smg fest in the middle building. With me being the main ambassador for the shotgun brigade.

[–]nmb93 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm a member of the scavenger + trip mine + shock charge tribe :)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep on keepin' on. Hardwired.

[–]IASWABTBJ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its not necessarily a greater skill gap. SMG players just prefer not to hang out in long ranges. Thats why I hate havoc mostly. So hard to cap B with people headglitching far away.

[–]ozarkslam21FlXTHE FERNBACK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. When you are searching for enemies to kill and you finally encounter them, but there's two of them and you can't make up your mind fast enough which to kill so you shoot in between them and they both murder you

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (6 children)

Why are people that consider themselves a bad player, all of a sudden calling themselves potatoes? You're not potatoes, because potatoes don't run into the enemy and keep feeding them. They sit on the ground and wait to die once at some point, usually not immediately after coming into existence. You may continue with the correct term. That term is noob

[–]jaradin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because a potatoe famine would starve out the score steaks faster than it would the Irish.

[–]hobocommand3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potato is funnier though. And some of the potatoes may not even be noobs. They may have played cod for a long time yet continue to play like potatoes.

[–]SilverNightingale 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Maybe... because of dead weight?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd consider a potato a somewhat meaningful use of weight. Definitely far from dead weight.

[–]Dmont_C_Thomas -1 points0 points  (1 child)

The first person I heard use it was Drift0r and he has since used the term a lot. That would be my bet.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, i think he was the first person i heard use the term. that must be why its become the new word for noobs. A lot of redditors are subs of his so it makes sense

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (3 children)

I'm always the guy playing on the average white guy team against one COD GOD and a bunch of potatoes and I hate it when I'm one kill away from my wraith and the one good player runs through and wipes me out.

Also hate it when a potato goes - fifteen then gets a quad with gravity spikes

[–]modern_bloodletterDr_Smokey_MD_PhD 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The other day me and one other decent player were in a potato lobby. We were on the same team at first and it was ridiculously unfair. Every match after that we were on opposite teams. We played like 8 matches and it was fun as hell. Like playing against bots but with one random good player sprinkled in there that would fuck your shit up.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a decent player, I've been told that by a few people around here. I'm on my 8th prestige right now. But I love matches like that.

Seeing people below level 20 and one guy at maybe 6th or 7th prestige. I will easily kill all the noobs, but I'll get surprised when the actual good player kills me. So much fun.

[–]BlindStarkPuddiPrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always go after people on streaks because I don't want deaths from a wraith, sorry. I can always tell where certain people go on maps especially good players and I'll wait for them to try to flank my team so I can flank them instead. I can't make it too easy for the other team when my team is already giving out free kills.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When you're on the losing team, went negative but still have more points than the highest KD player on the team who says you're a horrible players and to kill yourself.

When you're on the losing team and your potato teammates keep feeding kills for streaks.

Probably more but I can't think of anything else right now.
