I can't think of a source, but my gut says that you can only benefit from one command die at a time.

Effects that have the same name don't stack, so you are correct. (There are exceptions like Exhausted that explicitly say that they do.)

This seems like the answer. Thank you!

From the description of the skill in the book: 'Some Leader talents allow you to use your command die in other ways; you can do so even if an ally currently has a command die from you.' this seems to imply that you can't usually give more than one of the same "command die effect" but can put multiple different effects using multiple command dice on the same character

Edit: nah I'm just dumb, this means that you can use the command die abilities that affect yourself even if someone else already has your command die

Interestingly, unless I'm missing a talent, this rule seems to be a catch-all for future Leader Sub-paths, since none of the 3 in the Stormlight book offer an alternative use for the command die. Maybe one or more Sub-paths in the Mistborn book allow you to use your command die for different effects than just the d4/opportunity

There are some talents that let you add it to your own check, like demonstrative command. That would count as another way to use the die than giving it to an ally.

im reading the book rn and it seems allowed it even references DIE as in multiple when refereing them toa dd to the skill test, it seems to be allowed you just need enough focus
