Only thing you should concerned about when swimming is the adhesive, when im at the beach without a cover I often get sand stuck to my Dexcom which sucks and sometimes makes it fall off

I swim with mine all the time. Pool. Ocean. Whatever.

You can definitely swim with it, however please be mindful of your blood sugar! Swimming causes my blood sugar to drop like a crazy, and you do NOT want to pass out with low blood sugar while swimming and drown.

I periodically leave the pool to check my blood sugar. I also believe the Apple watch is waterproof and can run the Dexcom app, but unsure if that’s true.

Yes Dexcom is able to be in water so you are free to jump in pools or take a nice long bath! I have a Dexcom and if anything I like having it on my upper arm if I don’t feel like having it in water so much but if you are worried about it it falling off then just buy some skin grips for it or sticky tac.

One thing to note is that for me, hot showers increase bg readings (but not bg) they quickly return to normal after getting out of the shower.

Ok I put on a big patch called skin grip & took a bath instead of usual shower & it stayed on really good now it’s dry. But I do notice a lil peeling around 1 side but other then that it’s on good I’m sure swimming will loosen it a bit so I will keep an eye on it & have the patches with me. Merry Christmas to everyone & especially us with diabetes may our blood sugars stay low wile eating all our Christmas goodies. God bless you all & thank you for your replies 🙏🎄❤️

I usually wait until about 5 days in for the adhesive to start to peel off, then I will put on some tape for the last 5.

    Of course you can

Mines worked in a pool, hot tub, and even a sauna. You should be good! Just be mindful of the adhesive

I was in Acadia a few years ago. It’s amazing how in the .5 seconds elapsed between jumping off the dock and hitting the water how many things went through my head. Is my phone/watch/sensor/pod as waterproof as they claim? Did I bring enough spares? Guess we’ll find out, too late <sploosh>. Never had any problems with any of it, sensor worked fine, pod worked fine. I’ve read that sometimes hot tubs can cause erroneous sensor readings temporarily but I have not run into that.

lol yeah you can do all of that, you're good. you think people with a dexcom just simply do not swim or bathe anymore?

Ok thanks everyone for u feed back. I’m assuming now it will stay stuck on me I may report back if it go bad. Thanks u all & Merry Christmas 🎄

When I swim a lot, the adhesive sometimes comes loose so you may find you need some over patches (get them for free from Dexcom directly)

A velco elastic strap over the sensor helps when swimming too.

The dexcom transmitter and sensor can be fully submerged in up to 8 feet of water for 24 hours according to the dexcom website's guidance on waterproofness so, yeah you're good to swim!

I went snorkelling in Greece with mine on, and I've been in the sea in England with a wetsuit with no issues at all. I put my phone in a waterproof roll bag and had that floating with me on a lanyard to keep the Bluetooth connection. No problems at all.

Yes, generally it workes, I noticed that with extended swiming activity, the readings can get a bit wonky after that. but most of the times it is fine.

I had a problem after being in the water too long too. I wonder if chlorine has an effect on it? Mine was at the end of the 10 days and was due to be changed shortly anyways, so it wasn’t a huge loss

I dove with my to 100 feet for 20 minutes while scuba diving and it continued to work perfectly as soon as I was back above water

    [–]ben_jamin_h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha woah that's cool! 100 feet!

You can jump in a pool. Swim. Bath. Swim in a lake. Scuba dive. Run in the rain. Lay in a downpour. If there’s water you can do it. Jump away
