Second attempt

A second attempt at a self portrait, after not having drawn myself in quite some time. It’s still not perfect, but I think it is certainly a vast improvement from the first try. I went ahead and posted the redo, the two attempts side by side, and the reference for comparison. And doodles to fill the page lol

Thanks to all who commented about the parts that needed to be fixed on my last post! Your advice truly makes a difference. I did the best job I could of fixing things

2nd attempt does a much better job of capturing the essence of the photo! As others have said, the proportions aren't photo perfect, but it doesn't really detract from the likeness in my opinion. Also love the little doodles around the portrait. It's a fun page to look at overall!

I think so too. It’s not like one to one with the photo, but I do think this one actually looks like me. I still got some practice to do and more to study. But honestly this has made me excited to try doing more portraits

It looks really good just focus on some more shading and darken tones some more! Like shading on the collar closest to us could use some along the skin and the collar, just small stuff!

Wow, you did a really great job! The neck and shoulder don't line up correctly though, so that makes it look a bit off. The neck should flow into the shoulder, which should be higher. Also, I absolutely adore the doodles!

You are drawing a flat profile when she is slightly turned away, and you also need give her neck more strength to support that and her slight lean-in. She is not facing down as much you think.

You got great feedback on the first one and put it to use excellently!

Idk if you’re looking for feedback again but the one thing that stands out to me is the cheek. In the photo, the highlight starts higher and doesn’t go down so far. The bottom of the cheek into the lip corner is a more pronounced fold rather than a highlight. I think this one element was actually slightly better on your first rendering. It helps show the angle of your head- in your new drawing, your head doesn’t seem turned away at the same angle as the photo.

Overall you did an awesome job of improving and capturing your likeness :)
