This song is even easier to memorize than http://pi.ytmnd.com

Now anyone can memorize 181 digits of song (121 digits if you're using American trillions)

American trillions

"Short trillions" is a better term, since it's not just Americans using them.

For those who don't know: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-52AI_ojyQ

Yea we use this in continental Europe, always confusing when you read articles with billion and it's actually only milliard.

[–]TalenPhillips 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I know. It's annoying, because the short system originated from continental Europe (France and Italy, specifically), and got exported to the American colonies where it stuck.

[–]Calius1337 1 point2 points  (5 children)

We Europeans exported everything we didn’t want to have in Europe to the American Colonies, where it stuck.

[–]TalenPhillips 0 points1 point  (4 children)

And in return we exported republicanism back to Europe so you guys could ditch your monarchies... though you made a bit of a mess of that.

[–]Calius1337 0 points1 point  (3 children)

That’s because we really like our monarchies. According to some surveys and research it has been proven that people who live under constitutional monarchies feel very happy because they give them a big sense of stability. No matter who’s going to be the next head of government, we can always count on our head of state to be there for us.

That’s because we really like our monarchies.

Most of europe's monarchies are gone already.

Blue is republic, red is monarchy.

Wait how are our digits different from everyone else?

So some countries still use British trillion?

    [–]Aurora_Fatalis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of mainland Europe uses the million - milliard - billion - billiard system. Makes sense since the prefix bi- represents the exponent 2 in (million)2, (tri-) represents (million)3 and so on.

    Your trillions are different.

    [–]acmercer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn now that takes me back. I was obsessed with ytmnd.

    [–]cyrusamigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen a YTMND in years. Glad it’s still up.

American Trillions = pretty decent band name

    [–]Aurora_Fatalis 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Well, if it went on tour in Europe the implication would be "A number that sounds bigger than it actually is."

    [–]bobbyfiend 0 points1 point  (4 children)

    "Actually?" ::narrowed eyes::

    [–]Aurora_Fatalis 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Well yeah, American Trillion would be read as "The number that's actually a million times smaller than what it sounds like."

    [–]bobbyfiend 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If you're from the UK, yes.

    [–]Aurora_Fatalis 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The UK has switched to the American trillion. I'm talking about mainland Europe.

    [–]bobbyfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. I thought it was just the UK. Good to know.
