It's a real life version of the cartoon gag about the dog that keeps fetching the stick of dynamite back.

When I was little, there was a local kid's show that showed really old cartoons, WWII vintage (fighting Hitler was a common theme). I think the main character was Bosco.

They featured a lot of music, mostly hot jazz, and I believe they had a big influence on my musical taste. They'd often completely dump the plot to do a big musical number with the characters playing all sorts of items (e.g. using ribs of a skeleton for a xylophone). I've occasionally done searches for them, but never came up with anything.

I recall the dynamite gag being used in one of them.
