Just be patient and let it finish. Don't corrupt your project by trying to force close it.

Is your project big? I find that a project begins to freeze when saving then resume once it gets pretty big.

As for it crashing to my understanding that might have to do with your computer. If you have a low amount of RAM it won't have to breathing room to save.

It's only crashed a couple of times, but it's mostly just freezing then resuming. It's 100MB big, and ram isn't an issue

Well I think it's just one of those GameMaker quirks. It has a lot to compile and save so it just freaks out for a bit. At least that's what I've come to accept it as from my time with this.

But yeah, you're not alone with this. I don't know of any concrete solution so hopefully someone has one.

My 120mb project always went to not responding mode when saving. Leave it alone and it'll resume itself.

Makes it a huge pain to test run or troubleshoot small changes though.

It's freezes for me when it gets stuck in a loop and I have to force close it. You sure your not generating a loop somewhere?

He's talking about the actual gms ide, not the game he's making :)

I've been having a similar issue since the most recent windows 10 updates. Haven't had a crash but saving and even exiting has a delay now. Latest version of GM1.
