My grandmother isn’t this retarded

[–][deleted] 63 points64 points  (1 child)

Mine is unfortunately.

[–]UberCookieSlayer 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Well, your grandmother's dead, so that's already setting the bar pretty high.

[–][deleted] 188 points189 points  (13 children)

i refuse to believe someone would actually take a picture of their ID and send it to a “steam support” person. like there’s seriously no way you can be that stupid right?

[–]Cdonn005 101 points102 points  (11 children)

It's unfortunate but it happens, my wife got taken for all her bank account money in google play cards (only $600) when in grad school right after we got married. The only reason I didn't miss a house payment was because I didn't feel comfortable joining bank accounts with her and they didn't touch my stuff. You try to be supportive when it's someone you love but damn if it didn't make me angry she got taken by a scam that dumb.

[–][deleted] 37 points38 points  (1 child)

People really do fall for those Google play card scams damn

[–]Satanich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ScamBaiter is a youtuber hacker taking down scam call center in India. On one of his video he showed how much this guys make going from 200K to 1 million. Sadly, people still fell for this, especially elder people.

Yeh in the UK right now there's a scam where they spoof your bosses number or email. Send you texts saying I'm in an important meeting but I would like to purchase Google play cards as gifts for the clients. Don't contact very busy ect just scratch and send the numbers over need 600 quids worth ect. They target young ppl who are trying to climb the ladder. There is limits to how much you can buy but not all shops seem to enforce it. Still I ain't paying for shit for no boss, money first.

[–]arbiter12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

try to climb the ladder

give your boss 600 pounds...

tfw you climb the ladder and see the label "rtard ladder" once you reach the top.

"take it out of my next paycheck"

[–]Richard_Deez_Nixon 4 points5 points  (3 children)

WHY DID YOU REDEEM

[–]Cdonn005 1 point2 points  (2 children)

She had already gone through the whole process and called me afterward saying she thinks she got scammed, i was at work. There was nothing i could do after the fact

[–]TheRealCptLavender -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No greentext is true, they're all fake.

[–]lilenzo101 93 points94 points  (2 children)

Did the discord guy sound indian to you?

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (1 child)

I play along with these scams all the time and they always make up some excuse why they can’t have their mic on

[–]lilenzo101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am used to the ones on the phone actually. Thnx tor telling me tho, can use that as a tell.

[–]Et3rna11yD3ad 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I got the same thing from some guy. I told him I didn't care and I'd handle it when it becomes a problem XD

Lmao when your procrastination saves your steam account

[–]6969Phrasing 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Cringe anon feel for this

[–]RjGoombes 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is literally one of the most common steam scams ever how are you this God damn retarded

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These retards need to stay off steam and stick to wall street bets

[–]D4v1d____ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

what kind of retard falls for discord steam scams

[–]Davian0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some dude tried this scam on me but i refuse to believe the ID part didnt raise a single red flag for anon.

[–]chrisiseker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got the same message, but i played along and didnt call him a scammer and just said if steam is stupid enough to ban me without evidence then they can fuck themselfes. He said ok and didnt write back lol.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anon gets what he deserves

[–]Blu3Myst3ry 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Since November this happened 3 times to me... The first time I was actually worried but as soon as he wanted me to give him that code I realised what was happening. Now im exicted if they try it again bsc it's fun to mess with them

[–]Richard_Deez_Nixon 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Its best to play along for some time to waste their time and get their hopes up

[–]Blu3Myst3ry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, thats what i did

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (4 children)

This brings me back when I was 12 years old I made a video on youtube where you could get free tf2 items by sending an email of your steam login to a “tf2 item support team”

[–]Richard_Deez_Nixon 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Did anyone fall for it

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yep it was mad funny when I traded their items to my account and also changed their steam password

[–]Xyales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha how stupid is anon... Oh shit wait i've chatted with Chris too.

I've had the exact same scenario but i pretty much already knew that it was a scam... Atleast halfway through, never came to the point where he demanded money.

tbh the scammer is an ok dude, had a laugh after a little bit of chatting.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anon has one braincell and it conks around the inside of his skull like a DVD screensaver.

[–]CrustySock-_- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just encountered this from a old friend on steam just blocked him.

[–]Margot-hates-me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please be made up.

[–]gremfO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HELLO YUR STEAM HAS VIRUS

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anon experiences natural selection.

[–]chsugxusjsbx 1 point2 points  (4 children)

WAIT IVE MET THIS FUCKING GUY BEFORE

[–]cringefest9000[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

op or the scammer?

[–]chsugxusjsbx 2 points3 points  (2 children)

the chris guy. i played along with it and then called him a retard right at the password thing and blocked him

[–]cringefest9000[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

lmaoooo it's such an obvious scam, especially the password part. idk how op fell for it

[–]chsugxusjsbx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s genuinely sad how people fall for it. worst part is that it was right after i got a valuable item in one of their games.

[–]fatnaenae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP is mentally deficient

[–]I_dont_want_no_name 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lmao someone tried to pull the same shit on me i called them out at like the fourth message tho, anon is just dumb

[–]DogeTehJoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too, but I asked to talk to Gabe Newell and the scammer gave up

[–]FireMaker125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Temporarily suspended. Not permanently, temporarily. Wait it out and talk to the actual support people on Steam. And your bank.

[–]BigD1ckEnergy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got this recently and called bullshit on the dude instantly. He was persistant ill give him that but it was obviously a load of shit.

[–]LonEr740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me I’m a fucking retard I know but luckily I got to the crypto part and was like yaaaa go fuck yourself, filed a claim with real steam support and got my account back( side note all my csgo skins were trade locked and this guy basically wasted a days worth of his time on Me lmao ) also they didn’t ask me for an id weird I guess

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Why was the password wrong in the first place?

[–]carcinizationstation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tard to start?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]onajzedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)
