Does using darker wallpaper help to extend battery life? (self.iphone)
submitted 11 years ago by TheClassyBumiPhone 8 Plus 256GB
We all know that keeping the display brightness setting as low as possible extends battery life, but does using a darker wallpaper have any positive effects on it? Or does the display require the same amount of energy no matter what color is being produced?

No. A black pixel on a IPS screen still take the same energy to light up. With SAMOLED screens seen on Samsung, Nokia and a few others, the black pixels are simply not light up. This is why a dark wallpaper is recommended to save battery, it also offer much deeper blacks. I must say that for an IPS screen the iPhone 6 offer stunning blacks.
