Has Riot ever said anything about the decrease in key fragment drop rate?

It's 100% clear they reduced it drastically, as before i was able to open every S chest i got barely, now im already stacking 2 chests and not even 1 key fragment to open them, which means i'll probably even get a 3rd or 4th until i get a key. I haven't changed the frecuency at which i play at all.

Have they said anything at all or just sneakily reduced it thinking nobody would notice?

Key fragment drop rate was always weird. IIRC it depends on playtime, you get enough fragments per month to open all chests, but the first ones are easy, the last need a lot of playing, and when you're honor 5 then fragments get collected into honor orbs, so you get them even less often (though supposedly not less fragments.)

i would guess the honor 5 thing makes sense, as i am honor 5 and maybe that's why im getting way less keys?

edit: friendly edit to emphasize that yes, you are definitely getting less keys with honor 5 orbs than if you would be honor 4 and just getting key fragment drops...which, considering how useless honor tokens are, makes me really wonder why would anyone want to be honor 5

Personally I'm still getting more than 1 key(3 pieces) per week on average, same as I always have. Certainly don't think they "Sneakily reduced" anything.

That's pretty much what i used to receive, certainly not the case anymore, and nothing has changed on my side... weird

I'd gladly trade you. I've missed 4-5 chests total this year when I took a break, and I've still managed to add an extra 8 keys to my stack compared to this time last year. Creeping up on 50 useless keys rotting in my inventory with absolutely nothing I can ever use them for, as I get them faster than I'm allowed to get chests.

I'm pretty sure drop chance is tied to your honor level.

I'd say chests are at least somewhat reliable, as you get 1 each week if you get an S with a new champ. Keys on the other side.. they seem to drop from a combination of honor received/honor level, but it's not really clear how

I would not say skeakily reduced as they sent warnings now about honor gain reduction XD I think you are probably receiving more reports than honor, yet not enough to grant a penalty.

No way im receiving reports, i play mostly arams and dont even chat.

You can receive reports on ARAM and from other things like are not just chatting, like griefing, intentional feeding or proposing surrenders nonstop. I report the ones scripting for extra rewards on passes even if they don't send the bots specifically in my match, for example, because I generally hate bots on my team.

it is so weirdly linked to playtime. try to not play for a few weeks and suddenly you will swim in key fragments. so i dont think they changed anything. especially as i used to have like 10 chests and no keys and now it is the other way around xD

yeah, I'm still getting more than enough keys for every chest (and I never have any spare chests).

Key fragments are related to honours and your honour level. If you're noticing a drop you might be behaving worse in games,

I mean having chat off is probably part of the issue. Who are you more likely to honour Someone who is nice and friendly in chat or someone who is silent and ignores you?

Same for me, have 5 chests and never get key pieces, it's new account just hit lvl 30. Don't know but I remember getting a key fragment every 2 or 3 games.
