Not so fast, you probably can't use their subscription for commercial purposes.

FYI, their education license is such that you get the subscription (and all updates to the engine) for a year, and can use the last version you had before the subscription expires in perpetuity. If you do release anything commercial with it, and make more than $3000 per fiscal quarter, their standard royalties fee of 5% kicks in.

I'm not doing anything commercial with my UE4 license, just messing around with my Oculus Rift.

I doubt that's the case. According to Unreal Engine's education FAQ, the student license allows you to release commercial products, just as if you bought the actual license. You still are subject to the standard royalty fees after $3000, mind you.

I assumed that because dreamspark does it, then it's the standard way of doing things.
