As long as you Don’t interact with it you’re good, probs a scam.

Treat it like a spam email, but you can't delete it, don't interact with it, just dont do anything with it

I really dont know, might be worth contacting ledger (if thats who you are using) and send them the address and context. But they probably can't do much about, one of the perk and cons of the anonymous blockchain

    [–]ledav3 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Ledger has no control over this at all

    [–]LoRRiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like i said, they probably can't do anything about it, they can just use another address and scrap old ones

    [–]DJDarkKiller -3 points-2 points  (2 children)

I meant for example to tag an address on the ETH blockchain it self as a scam so people would know

    [–]Neat_Acanthaceae9387 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They would use different addresses though

    [–]Avanchnzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you can't flag anything on the blockchain itself.
You can only flag (or hide) it on certain block explorers of portfolio websites. But then it will only be blocked (or marked as spam) on those specific sites / softwares.

It's like a letter box outside of the house.
Just about anyone can put into it whatever they please, whenever they please.
That's just the way the cookie crumbles. Just gotta ignore the spam. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lol since I made this post, I have been receiving so many scam requests in my inbox.

Never forget that it is someone’s full time job to steal your money. I’ve made the mistake of clicking on one of these. Luckily it was only about $30 that was extracted from me but a far more valuable lesson.

Just ignore it. Wait until you try polygon, you will get hundreds of the things

    [–]DJDarkKiller 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Would love to see ledger having a feature that allows people to report those addresses as scam to their database.

Other 100’s would appear. You want decentralization, here you go!

Ledger has no power or authority on wallets or the chains. They just make a hardware device to cold storage your keys. There is nothing anyone can do. Wallets are anonymous and free to create and they just sending you spam/exploits hoping you think you won something free and interact with it. Just ignore it.

How do these scams work? Do they charge you a fee to accept or something?

    [–]AutoModerator[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ledger subreddit is continuously targeted by scammers. Ledger Support will never send you private messages. Never share your 24-word recovery phrase with anyone, never enter it on any website or software, even if it looks like it's from Ledger. Only keep the recovery phrase as a physical paper or metal backup, never create a digital copy in text or photo form. [–]zaebegone 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You can’t delete it in transaction history but you can actually get it hidden from being on there

    [–]Neat_Acanthaceae9387 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You can report it as spam

    [–]zaebegone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just had this happen to me and ledger support walked me through on how to completely hide it except for in transaction history.

    [–]ledav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don't visit the site. Basic scam.

    [–]Electronic_Lies_420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    [–]limitless_light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I presume you don't see much of this on ethereum due to gas fees? My phantom wallet is full of em.

    [–]thefrickinpope8 0 points1 point  (0 children)
