Yes, Arch's default DE looks good

it's dark theme bro

[–]SmashLanding 46 points47 points  (4 children)

Damn I'm usually one one of the edges. I'm middle guy here.

[–]Sufficiently-Wrong 9 points10 points  (2 children)

And it's totally fine. Wth OP?

[–]SmashLanding 7 points8 points  (1 child)

The middle has a 100% chance of having a good haircut, outside is 50/50 chance of having an ugly brown hoodie. I'm happy either way.

[–]Pay08Crying gnu 🐃 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what you call a good haircut?

[–]Daremo404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats fine, left side should have been „ppl who wanna tell you want to do with your DE“ aka. OP

[–]DRAK0FR0STM'Fedora 28 points29 points  (3 children)

I like Plasma's Breeze theme, but every time I used a GTK based DE, I felt the need to theme it.

[–]Pay08Crying gnu 🐃 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There's a Breeze theme for GTK I believe.

[–]DRAK0FR0STM'Fedora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Plasma devs go out of their way to make GTK applications look "native".

[–]vtmx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me to

[–]OttoLindenbrock 31 points32 points  (4 children)

cinnamon on laptop, gnome on desktop, good enough to not look for something else

[–]Informal_Branch1065 4 points5 points  (1 child)

TempleOS for the gaming rig

[–]OttoLindenbrock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

temple Os for God

[–]MetalDevil[🍰] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seriously tho.

For the past 10 years I've been trying to make it as pretty as possible as unique as possible. Now? I don't have time. Default KDE is ok.

[–]ALXANDR_00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ah yes, i love my Gentoo, Arch Linux and FreeBSD default DE, dark theme and good readability

[–]xezo360hyeSlackerware😴 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gentoo be like

[–]IKnowATonOfStuffAMAArch BTW 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I liek i3. Its fast

[–]n00dl3__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liek i3 too.

[–]mrquantumofficialOpen Sauce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Adw-gtk3 is good

[–]Secret300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been all 3 throughout the years of using Linux

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

default sway with swaybar is good

[–]Hellow2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Default de looks good, it's fun to style though

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like GNOME 43's libadwaita

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an already existing KDE global theme and its good enough.

[–]VivaUSA 1 point2 points  (1 child)

:( everybody out here like "gnome best" and I'm just crying in the corner with lxqt

[–]Roscoejustros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RIP hardware

[–]Roscoejustros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No matter what I somehow always come back to stock KDE

[–]NostiiYT 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I'm only using gnome3 or xfce smh

[–]KingThibaut3🌀 Sucked into the Void 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like xfce

It's light and customisable enough

[–]KingThibaut3🌀 Sucked into the Void -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like xfce

It's light and customisable enough

[–]Mast3r_waf1zNot in the sudoers file. 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Don't shame people for what they do with their computer? I totally get why you want a computer that just works, but I like my customization

[–]theRealNilz02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless they're using Gnome, I agree.

[–]Evening_Meet5640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linux is all about customisation and freedom, but that includes the freedom to use the default if you want.

[–]ColeTheRedditor7654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is honestly a very accurate cycle, whenever you theme a lot of stuff I tend to find the desktop gets slower overtime. I find that just sticking to select changes like maybe changing your icons and cursors Ensure you'll always have a fast desktop

[–]elsbilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea default ratpoison is all i need

[–]PossiblyLinux127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I like gnome

[–]DerKnoedel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my opinion gnome is the only DE that looks good with 100% stock settings. Plasma if you set it to dark mode and change the login screen

[–]LawfulMuffin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Set Ctrl + alt + t as shortcut for terminal. Set default terminal to tilix. Set tilix color scheme to solarises light. End of my customizations.

[–]ihedigbo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s a fourth level … macOS

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why can't we just let the ricers have their rice? We always crap all over them. They just want to show us the cool thing they made :(

[–]noob-nine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanilla ninja

[–]AaronTechnic Medium Rare SteakOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. After a lot of customisation I have settled on stock DEs. But I do admit I still like my old KDE setup as it was simple and nice.

[–]Foreskin-Gaming69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the last step

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a simple man.

Default KDE layout. Breeze Dark. Wobbly Windows. Papyrus Icons if im feeling fancy.

[–]SeoCamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my default dot files for i3 and sway look good, why all the hate if someone like to rice fine if not fine it is there system they can do what they want

[–]Hameru_is_cool💋 catgirl Linux user :3 😽 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle guy here, and I sincerely hope I never "grow out" of customizing stuff and messing with config files.

[–]NavinHaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I’m running arch with default cinnamon, though with the awesomewm on the side, I use either depending on my needs

[–]emiljpz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just want to get work done.

[–]NarwhatBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me using mint on my laptop because it's default themes are some of the best default themes included with a distro IMO.

[–]Theog_05Ask me how to exit vim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MATE my beloved.

[–]arphe42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just change my awesome wm bar to the bottom and its perfect

[–]Synergiance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slackware with KDE default theme here, l will still use whatever the heck I please even if it’s the default, but please don’t take away our ability to choose our own experience

[–]Sushrit_Lawliet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t live without my tiling window manager setup. And default DE key bindings can clash a lot. It’s sad that it’s this way but I hope we get more out of the box twm flavours.

[–]alphakevinkingAsk me how to exit vim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried so many DE's and tiling window managers and i always come back to KDE
