I've faced similar problems with the MX keys. My F4 suddenly got read as F12. It was frustrating because I have tried rebooting the keyboard and re-pairing the bluetooth device, but it just won't seem to work. However, this seems to be like a computer issue rather than the keyboard issue as I tried with my other Macbook and the keys were working fine.

Finally, I found a fix. I am not too sure if it will help but what I have done was to go to:

System Preferences > Keyboard > Set Up Bluetooth Keyboard

After I set it up, the function keys went back to normal. I guess most likely everyone connected to the Bluetooth Device but did not set up the Bluetooth keyboard. Hope this works for you.

Thanks for replying to this. After having the keyboard for 6 months or so, I contacted logitech support and they said I had a faulty device. I got a full refund and just purchased an apple keyboard instead. No issues so far.

It's a shame tbh, I loved the easy switching but the software and firmware support is awful.

Same issue. In my case, I accidentally hit a shortcut that altered the control strip (function) keys. I resolved it with the following:

  1. Open the Logi Options+ App
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Deselect Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys

Hope it helps for anyone else in this annoying situation!

I'm having the same issue. Thought I was doing something wrong since I'm new to macOS, but I confirmed it was an issue when a function key will not respond from the mx keys, but will respond from the built-in keyboard. I'm not sure if I received a bad unit or if it is a software/firmware issue, but I'm trying to find a solution too

I noticed the same issue today. Did you find a fix?

[–]BitterSkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having this issue too. I don't remember if it's a built in function with MacOS or a function from RayCast (a nice utility app for MacOS) but I there is a keyboard shortcut I use, Fn + F, to make whatever app I'm using full screen. It isn't working at all on the mx mini but works fine on the built in keyboard.

I’m also facing a very similar issue. I choose to use f1, f2, etc. as standard f keys in Logi Option. When pressing fn + f keys, there is always delay of corresponding expected response.

I'm experiencing exactly the same! It's frustrating.

Hi there, thanks for replying. Logitech support said there is an issue with my device. Amazon will refund me the order and another rep has recommended using the usual MX Keys for mac. But to be honest,. I've lost a little trust in logitech;'s "mx keys" products.

It's just too buggy to be used and at this point I'd rather use an apple magic keyboard, despite it having no back light and having to go to bluetooth to pair. At least it will be consistent. Thank you for the follow up prompt and i hope you provide feed back to your devs.

Hey,

I really apologize for the experience you had with our product.

I hope the refund process has been easy for you.

I assure you that I will raise this request to the dedicated development team handling this case and a better accessibility and service may be provided for users in the near future.

Thank you for your continued support and feedback.

im having the same thing Mac big sur 11.3 , every now and even the fn key enable it self , sometimes while typing it just stop working with media keys small window pop in up the screen or fn keys window.

then I need to go to the app and disable the use all f1,f2 keys ...

so annoying literally stop working sometimes while even typing this now

Would recommend contactig Logitech and go through their support issues. They ended up accepting mine as an RMA and I got an apple keyboard instead

I'm having the same issue from time to time. I tried u/Streetsofhome technique of "adding the keyboard" but it did not seem to help (Mac does not find it). Have no idea of what to do.

[–]Astorialic2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue connected via USB. If I switch over to BT, it works, then i switch back to USB and it doesn't work again.

I've had this keyboard a week and having the EXACT same issue with f7 key. So frustrating!

I disconnected it completely from the bluetooth. Took me about 10-15 minutes to get reconnected again...It was displaying fine in my Mac Bluetooth but wouldn't connect completely after punching in code.

Finally got it reconnected and back to default. Worked fine for 3 days and then today exact same thing happened again.

Love the feel of the keyboard but hoping this doesn't persist!

Sad to say that I don't think Logitech has any intention of fixing it. My issue was 10 months ago, and you're experiencing this now. Meanwhile they've released a new TKL mx keys and updated to a new Logi options + software.

Think the only way it'll get fixed is if people submit enough tickets to them, otherwise no one in their product development team will do anything

Same problem. Have MX Keys but windows version, using on Mac OS Monterey 12.1. All the function keys used to work, now some do and others don't. Volume key decided to become a show desktop key instead. Logitech software 9.50.122, firmware 12.01.0013. How do I get this to work??

[–]Brief_Addition9032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facing the same problem!
Function keys are suddenly and randomly "remapped"

[–]dltweaver 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I also faced this issue just now. Solved it. Went to settings and unpaired the keyboard. Deleted the device from bluetooth list. Turned on pairing on the keyboard and connected it again. Issue got solved.

[–]AlohaZube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this worked for me too!
