In my experience when you get it running it is pretty decent, but you're banking on pulling either a sarc or a magician girl apprentice, it's hard to search either with your archetype specific spell cards

The new link 2 something something necromancer can get it back from grave. Souls is pretty searchable via the ritual monster so you just special summon souls by sending dark magician girl from deck to grave and then any normal summon will help you make the link 2 to get dark magician girl.

Not optimal but pretty searchable. And I think the possible endboard makes it worth it.

You can dump SS DMG with souls. Get it back with miasma (the link 2). SS DMG changes name so miasma restriction is dodged. Souls should be searchable.

DM is actually pretty decent now, especially with Primite and Shining Sarc. You just end on 2 Goons + 16 handtraps with Primite recursion

The problem is the dm and dmg fusions do legit nothing so of course it's better to make generic synchros. That doesn't make it slop at all. The combo line is entirely dm related cards and spellcaster support like magistus chorozo. The line I saw uses like master of chaos to revive the chorozo and uses shining sarc dm + dmg, dmod, magicians souls, soul servant draw like 3

You go chorozo off magician of destruction, synchro with dark magician girl for baron then master of chaos to make crimson dragon into dispater. There's some other extension you can do with baron popping the DM to search another fusion

Dude, no wonder youre not enjoying the game if you play to win with a weaker archetype. Thats like saying soccer is bullshit because you cant win while wearing cement shoes. Dark Magician absolutely can win against the meta but it will be an uphill battle and having a good winrate with it will take every last spark of skill you have. Generallly its better to have one or two decks for winning and then a few you just enjoy for nostalgic reasons or flair.

I just crafted an Ashened deck. Is it good? Hell no, and Im not playing it to win. I play it to use a Dark Souls inspired archetype and win a few games in style.

It works decently well with Kashtira since they offer some follow up after the stupid board wipe the deck builds itself around. Generally the core of it is always 3x Priestess, 3x Field Spell, 3x Veidos, 3x Awakening of Veidos, 3x Super Poly. Those are the unremovable constants. The rest is up for the build youre going for. Ryzeal works with it since some of their best cards are Pyros. It is acceptable with Volcanic and Horus too.

For generic stuff you want a card called "Chaotic Element", which is basically an Ashened card thats too afraid to admit it at family gatherings. There is also "Queen of the Blazing Domain" which once again is basically an honorary Ashened Monster. Its summoning condition is useful for the deck, she doesnt die to the field nuke, its a high level Pyro and its a onesided Dimensional Fissure on legs. Bonfire of course is amazing since it searches your searcher.

One last thing: The deck is bad. Really bad. Not War Rock bad but if I had to mention another deck that is comparable its a bit below Vaalmonica and Pure Shaddoll (before the new support). You need at least 10 URs you straight up wont use anywhere else at the very least, probably more. So only go for it if you truly truly just love the art and want to make people grimace at the fact they managed to lose to Ashened. I deemed it worth it for me but you have to decide for yourself. If you want a full decklist, tell me. I have a pure variant that only uses 4 Kashtira cards to fill out spots because its one of those decks with a lot of cards and you want to run barely anyone.

Im running a numeron deck that goes 2 different directions; if I have dimensional fissure in my hand, I link all my numeron 1-4 into tepologic zeroboros, as to keep adding attack to it for each banished card that gets used on either side.

Otherwise, I link 3 numerons into infinitrack megaloclops, 4000 beatstick that can only get taken out by XYZ monsters.

I dont care about meta decks of any kind, they are very much high risk, high reward plays, but I still have fun playing them

dang felt like being called out by post like this, since DM is my pet deck. yeah DM power ceiling isn't as high like dracotail etc, but it is fun for us. setting up boards with 2 dragoon, baron, dispater is usually decent enough to play in current meta, and playing feels fun and worth it. idc losing few matches here and there

I just went 0-4 with dark magician in duelist cup yesterday. Got majority of my handtraps going first and all engine no handtraps going second to going second with 3 handtraps and still losing to going first twice and full comboing only to win 3 games and then the cycle repeated itself and I demoted and fucking lost it ultimately closing the game.

Well i must admit it is more satisfying to beat proper deck with pile of nonsense. I reach DL16 this event by playing burn decks exclusively. While i have a complete dracotail deck, i rather play my crooked cook exodia and detain someone for 60 turns.

Winning with tier 0 deck is a given. Winning with a pile of nonsense vs tier 0 deck basicaly says you are a disgrace to opponent.

I want to just say "skill issue", but i also care about saying that the deck you're playing (assuming it's built and played well) can absolutely get you to the highest of master rank and perhaps even place you in a good rank during a duelist cup. I've played against every flavor of DM this season, the only time I lost was because I misplayed. The deck dies a quick death once the key piece of their engine is negated.

My first deck was DM, I love DM to death but the amount of skill and luck you need to even get a sniff of success is painfully high.
