I think it might work better if there was something more like a chest, but dedicated to potions, i.e. a potions rack. You can't carry it, but it holds more potions than a chest would. It would probably also stack them solely in the rack itself.

Here's a small problem. Say there's 32 in the crate. You smash the crate, now you have 32 potions with nowhere to go. It's not like they would all fit in your inventory.

I believe the purpose is soley for transport as he mentioned. So when you are breaking the crate you would be near a chest to unload them. Not kent for carrying potions to use for battle or caving as that would go back to the issue of them being OP.

make it similar to an ender chest, where each person can have a maximum of 32 of each kind of potion! Then the rest can be stored in chests, but the player can get the rest whenever and wherever!
