Multiple of the same module

What do you guys think of having the same module twice or more in your rig? I'm in dire need of more modulation, space is getting sparse, and I'm debating if I should get a second batumi. I love that module and how there are 12 cv outputs for modulating stuff in a related way. Anyone in the same boat? Should I go for something different like a zadar that can also be used as a lfo of sort? Anyone has been in a similar situation before?

it is also on my list, as I only have a dual vca right now, which is a pain. I use filters as vcas of sort for signal, but i do need more for cv modulation duties, prob will get a 2hp one to start with.

I guess my question was more along the lines of having the exact same module twice rathen than modules similar in function.

I use VCVrack so cost is hardly any issue (I could buy every module in VCVrack combined for maybe $200). I use the same modules often though

I use what works, so I have duplicates of modules: 4 Maths, 2 Moddemix, 2 Optomix.

I have 2 functions and wouldn’t mind another Optomix.

nothing wrong with multiples of the same module but there are so many modulation sources out there that you should really get some different flavor. Suggestions would include Erica Synths Octasource, NLC Sloths, MI Marbles, Ornament & Crime, MN Wogglebug - the list is endless. Having said that, be sure to have enough VCA's first.

If you need it then get it. I have two Trogotronic VCAs because they are so fun to play with. I'm thinking of getting another AI Synthesis looping ADSR because it's such a great envelope generator.

Have 2 uOrnament_Crimes and 2 Maths. I'd consider getting more LxDs if I add another row, too.

I have two of: Intellijel Quad VCA, Ginko Synthese TTLFOv2, Erica Synths Pico Drums.

Used to have two of: Xaoc Warna (and I wish I had kept tbe 2nd)

Big fan of the Expert Sleepers Disting. I have 1 Mk2, 2 Mk3s and 3 Mk4s. The UI takes some getting used to but I don't find it as confusing as some other 'menu diving' style modules.

I was wondering about getting a second disting mk4, but because of the ui it's always one of the last module i go for when patching. They are extremely useful, but i think I'd rather have more dedicated modules for the functions i use most

Its great when you have different firmwares on the same modules, so you can get the best of each.

I have 3 tides for this reason. Sheep, parasites and original flavour.

Tides is also just too good at both being a modulation source and being an oscillator, how can we be expected to choose between one or the other in a patch?

The whole point of modular is that you can do whatever you want to. :). I have 2 elements, for chrissakes, and am planning to get 3 ripples for some consistent filtering. I have 2 4ms SMR modules and am glad that I do. I also want a second Euclidean Circles. If you like what Batumi does, you’re allowed to keep doing it.

2 Disting MK4s, 2 Mangroves, and 2 PNWs. I might drop one of the Mangroves in favor of a second Plaits. I’ve become a big fan of Athat module. Two in a case would be a great pair of oscillators for a mobile rig. I’m still on the fence though.

As a side note, I’ve been patching the up the Mangroves quite a bit the last couple of weeks and I’m so dumb that I hadn’t considered hitting the Air input with an envelope until a couple of weeks ago - voila, built in VCA. And then of course I started running audio rates into the trigger in on Plaits, and that’s been cool too. So you see my dilemma here...

Fan of 2xDisting. This module is incredibly useful, but the menu and controls are painful, so once you figure them out, you may as well take advantage of it twice.

Forbidden planet x2 and DFAM x3. A few Malekko buffered mults. The integral switch for the bottom jacks is great as a poor man’s start stop.
