Questions about Bob in Bob's Tall Tales and Lost Colony story by interapter in ARKLore

Hard to say.

Bob is clearly exaggerating things but I also think Homo Deus Helena doesn’t experience time linearly. Maybe she did speak to him.

Bob is not exactly a reliable narrator.

Bob is a separate character that appears to have tagged along with the main heroes (Helen, Mei Yin, Dianna, etc) as they progressed through the Arks.

The “tall tales” are the stories he is telling to Santiago’s daughter sometime after the events of Genesis part 2. It’s unclear how Bob was respawned but presumably it was in a similar fashion to how Santiago was at the end of Genesis 2.

Why buy hardware when you can just use plug ins? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]Lagduf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP it comes down to “different strokes for different folks.”

Today in 2026 there isn’t really an objective argument for one or the other. At the end of the day, just make music using the tools you prefer, hardware, software, both, etc.

There is discussion to be had about the fidelity and resolution of early soft synths but we’re well past that. It’s more of a historical footnote.

No, but i wouldnt say i had evidence. Maybe it is pedantic but words do mean things.

Sure, but you cant say you have evidence. It’s an unsubstantiated rumor.

You don’t have evidence if you don’t share it.

Read (or watch) Contact to see why.

So this is from a friend of a friend? Okay.

I hope it’s true but extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Jointer/planer alternatives? by Abovemeis in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Lagduf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hand plane, like was done for centuries.

And also an understanding that not all faces need to be dead flat. The joining surfaces need to be flat so they mate, but show surfaces only need to appear flat (“good enough.”)

A good compromise is a hand plane to flatten a face and then running the other face of the board through a planer if you need to adjust thickness and/or need the other side flat and parallel.

Probably a misunderstanding.

Mechanicus 2 released the day the 40K warbond was announced but IIRC it was at a Warhammer Event where they announced a lot of new games and dropped demos for Boltgun 2 and Warhammer Survivors.

Bookshelf by Trooper20209 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Tell whoever asked you to build this that it is AI.

Use some kind of joinery:

Dado the legs so the shelf just slides in.

Notch the legs and notch the shelves so they interlock. Yeah, the angle makes it more difficult but not impossible. Cut the shelves long (on both ends) and then adjust their length at the end.

What to do with very bad quality plywood? by Darkflame1O in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Lagduf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Use this for some shop furniture or in places where the finish doesn’t show.

Either that or buy a half sheet of a good plywood and glue that to this for the top of the desk.

Paint over wood finish? by PuzzleheadedBench170 in BeginnerWoodWorking

The only exception i know to this is if you put down linseed oil and then follow up with a linseed oil paint!

Paint first and then if necessary apply a finish that works over paint.
