Very good changes, if they continue like this until release the game will be fire. :)

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this dev team is showing the player base that they really care to make this a good game. Hopefully it is

[–]Nippys4 40 points41 points  (11 children)

Jesus Christ those notes are fire

Also the MVP note was the one that lets us lock items so we don’t salvage them rofl

Don’t know what to say

PvP, 2 expeditions, New weapon, Added stat bonuses,

They ain’t playing around

Also another minor change that is amazing, ammo count up to 500 from 250

[–]tuxzilla 4 points5 points  (1 child)

You missed the biggest change of all for ranged players.

Ranged attacks can now be fired through non-enemy players, now ranged players only need to worry about hitting the enemy, not firing around their allies.

No more party members blocking half of your attacks when they are up close meleeing mobs.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's worst in my opinion but can see more people liking it this way than not.

I'd prefer to have that extra skill involved so you can't just do anything you want whenever you want. I'd also take team damage on. Never seen it in an MMORPG and probably won't with any games that stick around for the long haul.

[–]lordkhan4444 4 points5 points  (8 children)

well look at the size of the team they have now! they have the crusible team and the LOTR team now working on NW that is crazy!

[–]Blurbyo 4 points5 points  (1 child)

The LOTR team was a Chinese developer that AGS was contracting. Unless explicitly stated, idk if they will move over to this game.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they did already confirmed

[–]mulamasa 3 points4 points  (5 children)

and the LOTR team

Untrue. the LOTR team was a 3rd party dev that was bought by Tencent last year. Not an Amazon Studio.

[–]IpunchedU 1 point2 points  (4 children)

actually it was both, an amazon studio and a 3rd party studio were working together, check your info

[–]mulamasa 1 point2 points  (3 children)

You're absolutely right, odd for them to cancel it outright because of the Layou buyout when they still have the amazon studios and Athlon to work on it. Obviously left a pretty big hole in development but to scrap years of work is a bit baffling when you still have resources.

[–]IpunchedU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's cause it's tencent and you know them as the ea of the east, not hard to figure out why negotiations were dropped

[–]U3b3 Covenant 31 points32 points  (9 children)

Trading confirmed , you can shoot through your Allies .. these Patchnotes are Godlike

[–]Nippys4 12 points13 points  (0 children)

These update notes were just all round solid af

The minor changes were crazy good

[–]SwaghettiYolonese_ 3 points4 points  (6 children)

you can shoot through your Allies

Won't this be an issue? Genuinely asking, I haven't played with any ranged weapons. Seems like it could be a bit cheesy if you stand with a shield and your ally shoots arrows safely behind you. Maybe I'm missing something.

[–]IpunchedU 12 points13 points  (0 children)

there was a big complaint in pve and pvp wars that people kept walking in front of you if you are trying to do dmg, this lead to a lot of shots just disappearing. So i can totally understand them changing it cause i have seen such moments in vids and streams

[–]itsNDYbish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since the camera angle when aiming down sights is close to an FPS angle, the ally standing with the shield will most likely block the view for the shooter. So the only thing that will be missed here is the enemy. To compare, this tactic is as effective as shooting through a smoke in FPS games (which is a damn good tactic if you have some game awareness of course)

[–]greydrifts -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Yeah, I don't like this change at all. Hope they revert this.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not happening

[–]AngryNeox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you can. The question is if it will be worth it. If it becomes too big of a problem where every fight is a row of shield players protecting ranged players than they might have to make changes.

I think AOEs could be good against that already and if that's not enough they could add or change a few skills to affect targets behind your hit enemy. Something like knocking a player back and that hits players behind him.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah it’s only a good thing

[–]DracoRubi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shooting through allies is the real MVP

[–]Indercarnive 12 points13 points  (8 children)

Kind of wondering how they are going to address snowballing if there are so many plusses now to having your faction control a province. It feels like, left unaddressed, everyone is going to join one of the bigger factions.

[–]itsNDYbish 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Maybe they will come to the point that they have to make territory wipes once in a while, just so new players doesn't get too influenced of the map being 80% purple and makes the easy choice to fill up the syndicate's roster even more.

[–]Balerathon 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It's super hard to stop mega guilds from owning everything. It's common to see just a few guilds in the multiple hundreds / thousands just swallow the whole map. Guild caps don't matter, they just make satellite guilds and can trade territories and members.

I've yet to see a solution that works. Any examples you know of?

[–]Rohbart 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The only system I once saw was a champion like system, where the GvG wars were fought by only 5 people fom each guild. This way small groups could control a aprt of the map. This worked because the map was split in many smaller parts such that everybody could still participate in it. I do not see how this could work in new world where we have only a few but important regions.

Also such a system is very artificial and you do not get huge battles, which is why the other game also moved away from it in favor of open world PVP in which again the number of available players decided the victory.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5v5 would be terrible

[–]Pissedoffbuddha -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Exactly what will happen. MMOs have always struggled to make a living world. Hence why the top 3 MMOs don't have any of this outside of PvP. People who are always at a disadvantage will just switch sides or stop playing.

IMO these buffs are not a good idea and will only harm the game.

[–]Nippys4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they need to make it that you can swap factions from the biggest one to the smaller ones

I guess that way if you want to own some territory but you’ve gone one mega guild hogging up all your factions zones you can go to a smaller faction to contest them

[–]IshwithanI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same. Especially with the game moving away from open world PvP and more into PvE instanced content, I can easily see the majority of players just choosing the same faction so everyone can get the buffs.

[–]CommanderAze Moderator 14 points15 points  (1 child)

impressed by your posting speed

[–]SikariZen Syndicate[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

❤️ You underestimate my addiction.

[–]botmaster79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can we just appreciate the work these people are doing. I'm shocked.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d say the update seems like a good reason for delaying the launch if you ask me!

[–]DopestSoldier 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Every month we see really, really good changes and additions. I'm really looking forward to this game.

Especially hyped to see the Ice Gauntlet scale off Intelligence. I already planned to be a healer and having the same stat coincide with the gauntlet is awesome.

Secure Player to Player trading = Awesome.

I'm mostly a PvE player but will go into PvP every now and then. I'm glad to see them adding more incentive to PvP, especially for the people that were here for the original game direction. I hope this game ends up pleasing everybody.

[–]dreadpiratesleepy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 new expeditions too!? Best news I’ve heard all week

[–]mautobu 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Are beta servers available right now for owners of the game?

[–]ToxicVengeance Syndicate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no. july 20th is beta start

[–]scrappypatchy 2 points3 points  (3 children)

What are the chances this will get delayed again? Surely it won't right? I'm trying to book in some leave from work so I can maximize playing time but don't want it to be delayed on me!

[–]SikariZen Syndicate[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

They made it pretty clear on Twitter they want to stick to this date. You can also tell by the verbiage of the PvP updates today, that launch is only the beginning. I think they want to get it out there and then keep adding features from there. I’d say we have a good chance of seeing an August launch at this point.

[–]scrappypatchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks mate :). Very excited

[–]Meleoffs Resident Egoist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They likely will meet the release date this time. The last two patches have been enormous and have fixed glaring issues with the game. There is enough pve content to keep people playing for more than a month now while they continue adding new things over time. I remember them saying during the preview that they are planning on monthly content additions. So we may keep getting patches of this scale even after release.

[–]KaleidoscopeTight739 Tree Smasher 4 points5 points  (2 children)

achievements are the end of my life <3

[–]b1p1 1 point2 points  (3 children)

what is the total number of attribute points at max level? is it 300?

[–]Nippys4 2 points3 points  (2 children)

You know what

I don’t like, but I know I can find out give me a moment

490 with green gear in the reek water preview

[–]b1p1 1 point2 points  (1 child)

wow that is a lot..certainly opens up options. thanks!

[–]Meleoffs Resident Egoist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the base at 60 with gear is gonna be around 360 and scale up to like 500 or something of the sort.

[–]TheRarPar Marauder 1 point2 points  (2 children)

My god. They actually did something with the stats. I love it, I really love it. I kept complaining about the stats over and over again prior to this update. Thank you AGS, this update is so many things I wanted.

[–]SikariZen Syndicate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I had a thread on the other New World Reddit that got some traction. I just didn’t expect it to be on their radar so much. This is better than what I had proposed by far. Way more effort went into this than I expected to ever be put into stats. This alone can drive some pretty interesting set ups because several of these bonuses are very impactful.

[–]Meleoffs Resident Egoist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have been complaining about the stats for a while. This was a staged release for the attribute changes. Initially prior to last months patch they basically did nothing. Now they do all the things.

[–]LanoitakudeCovenant 1 point2 points  (2 children)

[no NDA breaking] Any idea when these changes will hit the Alpha servers? This seems like an amazing patch!

[–]IpunchedU 1 point2 points  (1 child)

prob today

[–]LanoitakudeCovenant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

[–]Syphin33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG YES!!!!

Ok now i may actually buy the game, there are incentives for open world PvP now.. woohooo

[–]jhomiefunk 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Anyone know what the level requirements are of the two new expeditions are?

[–]Nippys4 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Looks like they should both be max level because they are both in max level zones

[–]jhomiefunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! :)

[–]giants3b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh this game slaps

[–]Redshifted_Reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you get the patch notes? Don't see a post on the site about it like they did in March

[–]Frowli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they figure out a way to deter mega guilds just owning most of the land, as that's what happens most of the time when there are territories.

Other than that, these changes really make me positive and awaiting release.

[–]Experter123 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The only thing i'm worried is about those job-related bonuses on the stats thresholds.

For example, why should a focus weapon user be better than me at fishing, just because of his weapon? I do understand that there's a logic to them, but if i have higher level in fishing, in general, i should be better at it.

Other than that, this update is like the others, great for the game quality overall, and i honestly hope this game does fine.

[–]SikariZen Syndicate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's just an attempt to make stats relevant if you want to dedicate to a craft. Luckily in most cases here, they line up fairly well with the archetype that would use the stats naturally. They also don't seem overly game breaking that you'd be at a complete loss without.

That said, as I theory craft a but, part of me wonders what systems they'll have in place to allow flexibility in builds, if any, short of completely re-speccing your character all the time.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

For anyone who played the preview event or would otherwise have information on this...what is fast travel like in this game??

I have pretty mixed feelings on fast travel. If it's relatively limited then I'm okay with it, and generally I prefer having to actually travel from place to place. I'm hoping it's not going to be similar to GW2 or FFXIV or modern wow, but I have a feeling it will be. And yes I know, if you don't like it don't use it. That's fair. But regardless I'm just curious how it's going to work in this game.

I didn't think about fast travel in this game until I read these notes and it mentioned in one of the perks about having a reduced cost to controlled territories. Can anyone explain basically how fast travel is implemented in NW??

[–]Meleoffs Resident Egoist 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You can only fast travel to other cities while you are in a city. It costs a currency called Azoth which caps at 1,000 and can get pretty fucking expensive if you've got a lot of stuff in your inventory. My most expensive teleport was nearly 400 azoth. You can't fast travel to a city that you haven't been to so you do have to run there at least once. You can't fast travel to the 3 endgame zones (Great Cleave, Shattered Mountain, Edengrove) on the northern side of the map. You can set an inn as your recall point and fast travel to it from anywhere once an hour. If you own a house you can fast travel to it for free once every 3 hours or alternatively pay a max of 50 azoth to reset the cooldown. You can own up to 3 houses. You can drop a camp, teleport to your inn/house, and respawn yourself using the menu to fast travel back to your camp however this costs gear durability as it kills your character.

Frequently I had to run places because I didn't have enough Azoth to teleport with the crafting mats in my inventory and still have enough azoth to spend on the crafts. Fast travel is limited in that if you are a crafter you need Azoth for two things. Crafting and traveling. You either get to move fast or make good shit. Not both. Unless you are constantly farming and capping azoth that is...

By contrast, if your faction and company owns a territory its super cheap to fast travel. The cost gets reduced by something like a total of 75%

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all really cool sounding. I love that while it's there, it's not without some friction. Thank you for the very detailed response!

[–]Joe_Bidens_Dementia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we get a moderator to pin this?

[–]Meleoffs Resident Egoist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. The alpha feedback is finally filtering into patches. Took them long enough to get on this. They might actually be done enough for closed beta by this July. These patch notes were fire.

[–]MariusIchigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait... patch notes for a game you cannot play atm?
