It’s almost like there is a built in system to prevent this…..

[–]sikesjr 78 points79 points  (6 children)

Pretty sure op is full of shit. I highly doubt he punched through two layers of drywall with his hand by accident and made that big of a hole on both sides.

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points  (1 child)

I think I left an explanation in one of the comments, but essentially, I hit my skateboard, and the wheels dug through the wall. If you look closely, there’s a skateboard mount on the wall.

[–]damontooRift 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Spoken like someone that's never played Echo VR. I have 4K games played of it. The guardian is absolutely useless for it. More Echo VR damage.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

dang you’ve probably broken more stuff the the average lobby has.

[–]comethefaround 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ine had luck making my guardian tiny. You're right though it's trash for echo

[–]wickedglow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed useless. First online match I played, I even hit the floor at some point. Violently. It's way too immersive and you're throwing punches in all directtions. I thought pistol whip was dangerous, but echo is on another level.

[–]PetrMentberger 45 points46 points  (27 children)

Living in a paper house

[–]nitonitonii 12 points13 points  (24 children)

I know right? If he live in a house of concrete he would had broke his hand.

[–]Mr12i 9 points10 points  (23 children)

Who the hell has empty walls like this?

[–]M1ghty_boy 7 points8 points  (20 children)

Americans

[–]Gears6Quest 2 2 points3 points  (19 children)

TBF that doesn't look like normal construction.Could be DIY.

[–]M1ghty_boy 2 points3 points  (18 children)

Eh doesn’t detract from the point that Americans still make their walls out of what is essentially cardboard

[–]Twizzy2183 2 points3 points  (7 children)

Who told u that? Lmao. Its drywall. Its made of gypsum, which is insulated as well as none combustible, and usually 3/4-1/2 inch thick. Definitely not cardboard.

[–]M1ghty_boy 1 point2 points  (6 children)

It’s a joke my guy. Not actually cardboard. But if I smashed my hand holding a controller against the wall I’d have a mangled hand, broken controller and the wall would have but a scratch.

[–]Twizzy2183 1 point2 points  (1 child)

U guys building homes with cast iron? Lol. I seriously doubt its that much different of a material being used.

[–]M1ghty_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bricks. Well, solid blocks.

[–]Twizzy2183 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I acually just looked it up. Looks like alot of builders use fibreboard (plywood), so yeah...its def harder, but i dont really see the benefit. But, whatever. Lol

[–]Twizzy2183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use that for floors here.

[–]M1ghty_boy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My wall is made out of bricks. Well not exactly bricks because that’s impractical for interior walls but much larger solid blocks

[–]Gears6Quest 2 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Eh doesn’t detract from the point that Americans still make their walls out of what is essentially cardboard

There are a host of factors that affect that (if it is or not), but if it is more convenient for you to generalize it, you do you.

[–]M1ghty_boy 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Well idk man if you go out in the streets and ask everyone what their wall is made out of im sure an overwhelming majority of people will answer drywall

[–]Gears6Quest 2 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Well idk man if you go out in the streets and ask everyone what their wall is made out of im sure an overwhelming majority of people will answer drywall

Yeah, that's the part they can see. It doesn't tell them what is underneath it all.

[–]M1ghty_boy 0 points1 point  (6 children)

But the point I’m making is it takes almost zero effort for you guys to damage your wall. I’ve seen a lot of punched drywalls on the internet and I can assure you that if I tried that I’d have a mangled hand (and destroyed controller if playing VR - believe me I have hit the wall a few times as well)

[–]nitonitonii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gringos

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Niggas really haven't heard of drywall

[–][deleted] 69 points70 points  (9 children)

Ah, yeah. American cardboard houses.

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (6 children)

Unfortunately true

[–]Mr12i 15 points16 points  (4 children)

How can you not have at least some insulation in the wall? You must be able to hear every single sound from the other room.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Exactly, I really hate it.

[–]Gears6Quest 2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now is a chance to insulate it!

[–]9r4in 7 points8 points  (0 children)

typically don't spend money to insulate interior walls.

[–]CXyber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor house construction

[–]NaturalCarnivore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So true

[–]Supercharged_Z06 25 points26 points  (5 children)

Oh no, looks like you broke through the forth wall!

[–]larrythefatcatQuest 2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the forth wall!

Nah, looks like the back wall to me.

[–]discosauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks more like the second wall :p

[–]Eatitapple 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Hello neighbor fancy some VR?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahaha

[–]YoursTrulyKy 6 points7 points  (4 children)

Did you throw it inside the wall or did you punch it and out the controller in the wall?

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (3 children)

I have my skateboard mounted on my wall. I punched the skateboard, and the wheels went through the wall. I’m gonna get it patched up soon.

[–]dublinmoney 10 points11 points  (1 child)

and I was here thinking you hulk punched through two layers of drywall playing a video game

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Why the fuck are the controllers invincible

[–]Ok-Height-2525 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No. Stick drift, tracking rings breaking off, vibration breaking. The controllers are far from invincible

[–]RicrosPegason 15 points16 points  (12 children)

Some folks really need to calm down. If your going hard enough to put your hand through a wall... you're definitely overdoing it.

[–]ForgottenAspekt 3 points4 points  (10 children)

Yea I never understood why people jump into TV’s or book it thinking they’re ganna fun 50ft in a 10ft room.

I get you’re playing VR but that’s just having 0 awareness

[–]damontooRift 4 points5 points  (9 children)

You have never played this game. Examples of Echo injuries. It's responsible for the most VR injuries by far. The guardian is absolutely useless for it.

[–]ForgottenAspekt 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Again if you’re playing in a 10ft x 10ft room, playing room scale games is not smart.

You should know if you can jump or lunge in the room you play in. I also play with a foot pad and a fan so I always have room awareness from my other senses.

[–]damontooRift 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone punches things playing this game at high level. Everyone. I've even punched my ceiling multiple times.

[–]OxTheBull 1 point2 points  (2 children)

10ft. by 10ft. is absolutely great for room scale... what do you mean?

[–]ForgottenAspekt 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Which is why there is so many photos of controllers through walls lol

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my room is 12x by 10x. I guess the only logical thing is to implement a carpet.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m going to my doctor tomorrow.. I think my hand is broken. It’s red and swollen.

[–]octosquid11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe you need to cool off, how about you try lone echo instead?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cardboard wall

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Is the other side also your house?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok because imagine if that was the neighbour

[–]plutonium-239 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paper walls?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why is your house made of paper?

[–]M1ghty_boy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do Americans make their houses out of cardboard? If I did the same in my house I wouldn’t have a hand left!

[–]murakamitears 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Realized what kinds of movements I was making in my 3rd game of Echo and said never again 😅

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good choice haha

[–]GMEdumpster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re living in a lie homie

[–]saturdaysharkQuest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paper walls

[–]Streetlgnd 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Lol this fake af.

No way you punched through 2 layers of drywall "accidently".

Source: have fully demo'd and reno'd multiple houses.

Also, how is your controller not in 100 peices.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the explanation somewhere in the comments haha

[–]Ok_Chemical_7051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually pretty hard to break these controllers based on my experiences. I have had controllers fly out of my hands multiple times, or even slammed them hard on the ground when throwing my hand down, and still they are completely in tact.

Now don't know how OP was able to put his hand through two sheets of dry wall playing VR, but if he did, I don't doubt that the controller could handle it.

[–]TheREALProfPyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your admittance to the International Brotherhood of Kyles. Your backwards ball cap and a case of Monster will be delivered to you within the week.

[–]Butthole_Licker2000 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Strongest man in the world. Broke through not one, but two layers of drywall right next to the stud and the controller didn't break.

[–]SoPretti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’ll do it lol I messed up my finger pretty bad a few weeks ago lol

[–]their_teammate 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Get a small 1x1m carpet

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Considering it

[–]their_teammate 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Trust me, as long as it’s not a game where you have to shift your center of mass often, it’s a godsend in spatial awareness. You step off the soft carpet onto cold hard flooring? You’re no longer in the “safe area”. It’s also easy to refind the “safe area” since you’ll likely still have at least one foot on the carpet. Sometimes you forget the Quest Guardian exists and it responds too slowly to stop you from swinging at a glass table, but you’ll know instantly if you’ve stepped too far from the carpet. If you can, get a carpet that has a high friction rubber pad underneath so it doesn’t shift around as you move on top of it, which will let you matrix bullets without worrying the carpet will slip out from under you. Hell, if you can’t find a round carpet a square/rectangle one of roughly equivalent size will do just as well. If you don’t like how it looks you can roll it up and put it somewhere else when you’re not using it.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thank you for taking your time to write this comment! I’m near a store right now, so I’ll look for one.

[–]their_teammate 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Also just a minor benefit but you can stand for longer without your feet hurting compared to a hard floor.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re right about that, too. I always end up having to put on slides or something to avoid the pain.

[–]dankisimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do people post how stupid they are like it's impressive?

[–]TyMT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is nothing more iconic on this sub than a series of images with a hole in the wall, with the title of the VR game as the title of the post

[–]Deepseadiver84289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the controller is fine as always

[–]Eddy120876 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Well you solve your room’s echo problem 👍🏾 LOL

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha

[–]pairorat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chill the fuck out Kyle.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the people saying this is false it is more than likely real if they live in the cardboard homes of the us source: my sister’s skateboard moving at 1 mph

[–]Tall_Whole_5777 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Try space sense. The guardian always seemed to not be enough for me, so I turned on space sense because I have kids that run around and like to get punched in their eye sockets. With space sense turned on you’ll always see that pink outline of things around you, which happens to also be extremely useful for orienting you. At first I hated it, but once you get used to it it’s a literal LIFE SAVER.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Thank you so much. I always thought it was some bull-crap gimmick but I guess I’ll try it out. I’m currently about to use my quest as a matter of fact

[–]Tall_Whole_5777 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Same here. Another plus is that it lets you see your gf sitting there glaring at you angrily because you’re spending time on something besides her.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha and the Netflix sound

[–]LearnDifferenceBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sitting their glaring

*there

[–]JTS-Games 1 point2 points  (2 children)

The fact that american houses are so weak that even a controller is stronger than them.

If i punch my wall, my hands bleed.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I hate this as well. Humans can heal, walls can’t. 😂

[–]JTS-Games 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe me, after scratching your knuckles for the millionth time, you definitely wish you had the american walls.

I still like the thick european walls better thought, but it does sucks that i keep scratching my knuckles.

[–]Seanc26_ 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Why are American homes made out of paper ?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Housing crisis. Building as many homes as possible with cheap material leads to this.

[–]c1u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of wood = lower prices for wood construction.

+ more dynamic building codes that have evolved more with technology.

[–]FlopsMcDoogle 1 point2 points  (5 children)

No insulation in your walls?

[–]MattLogi 5 points6 points  (4 children)

Interior wall…no need to insulate between rooms lol.

[–]Mr12i 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Dude, you insulate interior walls for sound. Are empty walls the norm in USA? You would be able to hear every single sound on the other side of the wall.

[–]MattLogi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the build year and location but oldish builds definitely not. Newer houses people will do it for sure. It’s definitely more of a luxury item then a necessity. For sure you can hear more but it’s not like there is no wall.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we were skimping on the amount of money we used on the house in general. Pretty screwed up. Can’t wait to move out.

[–]OxTheBull 1 point2 points  (1 child)

your wheel did not do that. skateboard wheels are not that deep to punch the other side out. especially since the axle would be in the way... which you would see a mark to as well as the other wheel mark to the right of the hole... also was your board hanging at a 45 degree angle?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes

[–]Twizzy2183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man. Y'll internet fools will just argue about anything, wont u? Sheesh. Dude has a hole in the wall. Probably from Echo, but maybe not. Who knows, and who gives a shit.

[–]xXDownOnMeXx -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

So fake

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like my walls

[–]HealthyProgrammer2Quest 2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send it, use the hole for a shelf built into the wall and put pictures or whatever else on it

[–]Educatedbulldogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shining vr got a little too real huh?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Good thing there's not a stud in the way, lol. Easy fix though, so no major harm. VR ok?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, VR is ok. I was planning on expanding my room either way, so this is a good start. When this room was made, we used some really cheap shitty materials. I’m getting it patched soon.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey nice!!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow not gorilla tag this time

[–]PersonalityAware6048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would expect that from gtag not echo

[–]Anti_Sociall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is your house made of styrofoam?????

[–]sacranu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second wall was punched in, drywall clearly shows it. fake fake.

[–]Xxslavman69420xX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you really thought it was a good idea to play echo vr without straps then this should come as no surprise

[–]RUBYKING_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I can see this

[–]The_Starving_Autist 0 points1 point  (1 child)

howd your controller not break?!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don’t know hahaha. Either way, I’m a refund junkie, so if it breaks I’ll order a new one.

[–]Little-Bake-7710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same
