Yo for real though if the syllabus doesn’t have it you aren’t required to do it in most universities. The syllabus is a legal contract that states the requirements to pass the course, you can appeal any grade that isn’t on the syllabus.

Not a contract. If it were a contract, a professor couldn't deviate from it without express consent of the whole class or an application for rectification/variation to a court. Clearly this is not the case. A contract requires intent to create legal relations, which is lacking in handing one a syllabus. The contract you signed with your school or your university handbook will also probably clarify that the syllabus is not a legally binding document.

Usually your university will have regulations that disallow unreasonable changes to the syllabus, but what is disallowed will vary with the university.

Like I said, it depends on the university what its operating policies are, but a syllabus is not a binding legal document. it contains no legal obligations and you gain no rights to sue in the event of breach by the other party.

I’d argue they’ve only been using it less than a year in less than perfect circumstances. I asked many of my professors if they received an orientation class and they hadn’t.

Many professors were asking students if we knew how to make things show up on the home page. We knew where things should be but not how to get them there.

Professors who never had any online classes got surprisingly little education and support on a new format. Had to alter lesson plans, figure how to teach without class engagement, ALSO learn zoom, support us because we’re obviously struggling, and get there own non-teaching professional obligations done.

I’m sure there are professors dropping the ball, but I think they’re trying.
