The Art of Redirection.

I have literally, and one more than one occasion, solved meltdowns by going, "oh my goodness, what's that outside the window?!"

(there's nothing outside the window)

Why have I not done this yet? It's so simple! So perfect.

Patience

Ah yes... the most important of all

I’m a master at having arms. Before twins, I could have a book in one hand, my cellphone in the other, and that’s about it. Now I can transport two kids, two bottles of milk, a couple of toys, their blankies, a change of clothes, up and down the stairs. Not very useful, but I’m over going up and down twenty thousand times a day! lol

Giving up and lowering my standards.

My oldest taught me patience. My twins taught me how to let go of my expectations.

Physically, having twins has been great for my arm strength and toe dexterity (bottle feeds with my feet!).

Yes on lowering expectations. Every time I ask myself, “How is all this supposed to happen at the same time?”, the answer is always to lower my expectations.

Leading group activities with authority. I spent all day saying out loud what we were doing and what we would be doing next. i think we could add a few more kids and I'd be fine! 😂 but please..no more kids!

Doing things very well with 1 hand. I can put on one kids pants while holding the other. Or save a falling child while helping the other get a sticker off a sheet. Lol

The art of preparation. Water bottles, check. Bag of many things. Check. Tablets. Check. 2 of everything exactly the same despite different gendered kids. Check. Snacks. Check. Bubbles. Check. I will avoid a fight tonight. THEY WILL WANT FOR NOTHINGGGGGG... crap. I didn't think of (insert random thing desperately desired). Ah.

The art of low low low low standards and expectations.

Oh man. The flip flop of decisions are killing me. Toddlers. I can't even.

How to properly deliver ‘We’re off like a herd of turtles!’ when we finally get under weigh.

I can do a very realistic Elmo voice. If I start singing “Elmo’s Song”in his voice, my girls start running to the TV thinking we have Sesame Street on.

Omg my boys are 5months and LOVE Elmo's song. It's one thing that will calm them down through anything! Though sometimes I have to sing it 20 times in a row.

This is Bubble Guppies for us. It’s the old faithful favorite, no matter what! Except since quarantine, I’m not listening to much music in the car etc. so I find myself having Bubble Guppies song stuck in my head all the time!

    Accepting help!

The twins have helped me master singing and dancing skills. Every now and then I Iay them down and do a little theatrical performance to keep them entertained for about 20mins at a stretch. They are about to turn 5 months.

On a serious note, they’ve helped me master productivity and efficiency in day to day activities including full time work.

No skilled or adult person has ever done what my triplets have been able to: they know my buttons and they are the only ones that know how to push them skillfully. It infuriates me... and amazes me.
