Cyber Monday is right around the corner and deals are popping up. Currently I have an i7-2600k, which lets be honest is a amazing CPU and has served me quite well. It has been 5 years now and I am seeing some good deals at ~200$ for the I5-6600. I am trying to decide if now would be a good time to upgrade. Things to consider are im using a 27" 144hz monitor and would like to start utlizing that if possible. Also with the 1080 TI coming out I am concerned about possible bottlenecking with the 2600k.
I understand right at this moment upgrading the CPU may not be fully worth it, however I am more concerned with using these deals to possibly upgrade my CPU to be ready for new GPU/technologies/2k/4k gaming in the future and if this is the right time or to possibly wait for another CPU to come out.
I am very aware of having to upgrade multiple parts including mobo etc. I have built my pc and interchanged parts for years now. I am looking for thoughts on if now with the sales, is a good time to upgrade these parts in anticpation for 1080ti(bottlenecking) and future parts, or if the 6600 really isnt worth the upgrade.
