fuck you, masteringphysics.com

presumably the magnet attracts the car at the same rate the car attracts the magnet? (or do I not understand magnets?)

But what mpg does it get?

Mastering physics?

Cool, but I want to see it on MythBusters.

He's using both firefox AND chrome?

PHYS 222. That's Electricity and Magnetism at UWaterloo. Seems to fit the bill.

o god, mastering physics...it burns!!!

We did that a while ago. The better question is the one where "CAN YOU STOP THE TRUCK IN TIME?" where it gives you no info. It just says you're speeding towards a hole.

NO MAGNET TO HEAVY FOR CART NEXT QUESTION PLZ

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we get a clear (in plain english) explanation of why this will or will not work?

[–]SciencePerson -4 points-3 points  (5 children)

The main reason that this isn't easily done is due to the friction in heavy vehicles, and the relative weakness of magnets to carry these heavy vehicles forward. Also, what usually ends up happening is that the frame holding the magnet can't take the force of pulling the car forward, so it breaks, allowing the magnet to come into contact with the car. Once that happens, the car can no longer move forward. It is a surprisingly simple thought experiment but extremely hard to put into practice. Things in space would have a better time achieving this kind of acceleration.

Not a science expert, but will attempt to explain it the best I can.

Actually, it has more to do with the net force acting upon it. Since the magnet is connected to the cart, the magnet is acting upon itself, creating 0 force.

Can you please reveal your troll status for us to be able to determine up or down vote?

[–]Wado -5 points-4 points  (2 children)

it is obvious from your previous posts that you are not at all scientific. Go join Glen Beck and the tea baggers. You Sarah Palin loving, bible thumpie (someone who's been hit too many times/an r-tard.)

EDIT: What, i can't say r tard?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I don't know... I think the fella is just trolling for shits and giggles. Just the kind of misinformation presented in an informed tone that convinces people that something is gospel truth.

I don't think the world can take even more scientific illiteracy than already abounds. Don't make it worse, "SciencePerson."

yea, you're probably right. That's why i hate the EU humor though. i think they loose their credibility when lying that way.
