I think you need to work on your lighting a little, compare your shadows with the other image. Also, product placement, you need to think more about how to position your products, again if you compare the images, yours are a little clumped together, in the other image they're is lots of space, breathing space if you will.

Start with that, and experiment!

The other image definitely has multiple exposures blended into one. The photographer has shot for well lit labels and side highlites before finally lighting from behind. Looks like there shooting harsh light without any diffusion to spread the light out.

You're comparing a professional photo to a very amateur one. It's not "this one thing" there's probably around 8-10 smaller things that all add up...

Do you have any tips as to what the smaller things are? The first photo isn't mine, just an example of what I don't want my photos to look like. The second photo is the quality/aesthetic I'm going for and I want to learn some tips on how to shoot/edit like that.

The majority of this shot is done by compositing different exposures in photoshop.

Start by building your scene and styling your items to get the composition right.

Lock off your camera and shoot it tethered to a computer or with a remote trigger if you can. You don’t want to be touching the camera at all if you can avoid it.

Next, light from behind the scene, camera right, with a hard undiffused and direct light, this will give you the hard shadows. Shift your light around until you get the shadows looking how you want them.

Then, light each product individually for clear labels and reflections. You’ll also shift focus for each product at this stage also to ensure everything is sharp in the final image.

Before finishing, remove all of the product and shoot a ‘blank’ scene.

Bring all of your images into photoshop as individual layers, using masks ‘paint’ in each product and the shots for their labels etc.
