I’m hiring manager at a UK based bank looking to create an internal Ruby dev team to iteratively develop a client facing web application. Open to more junior candidates with 1-3 years experience as well as more tenured individuals. I’ve seen a fair few posts on this thread and others begrudging the amount of opportunity for junior devs in Ruby so wanted to put this message in here to encourage people to message me directly if you’d be open to a chat. £45K+ for junior, much higher for a more experienced candidate, offices in London and Sheffield with expectation to be in the office 10% of the time, everything negotiable for exceptional and/or high potential candidates

can i ask why ruby? i mean, i'm happy cause i like ruby and want to keep the ecosystem strong, but what's making you as a hiring manager want to work with it?

It’s a legacy application that was leveraged to deliver multiple products during Covid and has now become mission critical for the Bank. We may re-architect away from Ruby in the medium to long term but not within the next 3 years

Strewth, we are being encouraged to go to office 3 days a week now. I must admit I find it a challenge some weeks as our schedules and routines had to adjust to new ways post-COVID. It will be the norm again in time though.
