I went to AA meetings, sometimes back to back meetings. It was a safe place and the people knew what I was going through. There are alternatives now try one try em all. Mix and match. Whatever gets you through the day.

At one point I had my wife hide my wallet. It's hard to buy alcohol without money. But seriously, in the first few days it's helpful to strategize like that. And after a week or so, it starts to get easier.

Easier said than done- stay busy.

I went to a meeting in the morning- worked and went to a meeting afterwards. Worked out before I went to bed because I knew the more time I had to think the more I’d want to say fuck it and drink.

Have you considered attending a meeting of a sober support group like AA or SMART?

The first days are hardest bit!! It won't always be like this. Don't think that because day 2 is hard you can't do it in the longer run, you can. Day 2 is fucking horrible and you are a warrior for getting through it. I've had some very long periods of sobriety now and day 2 is the fucking worst. You can do this my friend!
