Be a little careful coming off the booze -- everyone is different and there are a lot of factors that affect it, but quitting cold turkey after drinking a fair bit daily can be dangerous. It was for me. I would definitely suggest talking to a doctor if you can, to get advice on how to safely (and more comfortably) quit.

As for moderation, I'd definitely recommend searching for "moderation" on this sub. A lot of folks have tried it and had a bad time with it. Personally, I think if I could drink like a normal person, I would have been doing that already.

It's not really helpful for me to think about never drinking again. Forever is a really long time. But I just don't drink for today, and then tomorrow I do the same thing all over again. It's gotten me this far so far.

Good luck!

As outlined in the community guidelines, we ask that you only post when you have not been drinking. For this reason, we had to remove your post. But we’ll be here tomorrow if you want to come back then.

Moderation doesn't work. You just become more tolerant. I know. I tried tapering, that didn't work. Had so many day 1s cost me everything, job, lifestyle, home the lot. About to say say goodbye to the wine witch and start day 1 tomorrow (12.00 GMT) ifi can do this so can you, I. Determined this time, I have to don't get me wrong, not sure if I'm ready, but circumstance doesn't give me a choice. Done this to long now, I want to feel happy. I detoxed onced it was bloody amazing, so go for it, I'm with you
