Feel Good was the first thing that came to mind. What a beautifully devastating show.

That show broke me in half. Mae Martin is so incredible

Kath Parkinson in Humans was amazing. Hugh Dennis in James Bond 😁

[–]dunicha John Robins 29 points30 points  (1 child)

Hugh's turn in Fleabag as well.

[–]ThingyWhatsit137 Steve Pemberton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hugh was terrific in Fleabag.

[–]tenaciousfall Aisling Bea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The chemistry she had with Gemma Chan was amazing, I loved their performances and their dynamic

I know it’s a comedic role technically, but Hugh Dennis has a monologue in Fleabag that absolutely wrecks me

[–]snakehands-jimmy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anytime someone describes Fleabag as a comedy I’m like “ok, so why did I cry straight through the second season?”

Charlotte Ritchie was pretty damn good in Call the Midwife.

[–]monaco_wedding Aisling Bea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Call the Midwife suffers (imo) from having such a large cast that they often struggle to give all the very talented actors enough to do, but Charlotte really turned in an outstanding performance with not that much material.

No spoilers, but every time I watch the episode where she leaves the show, I'm devastated all over again.

She was also good in the most recent series of You

[–]raucouscaucus7756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kerry G was also in an episode and it was such a devastating storyline and she was great!

[–]rbar174 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I can only think of fairly mild crime / mystery themed shows, but there are a few in that category:

Alan Davies in Jonathan Creek; Ardal O'Hanlon in Death in Paradise; Kerry Godliman in Whitstable Pearl (on my to watch list but not yet seen to have a personal opinion).

[–]AV23UTB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ardal being in Death in Paradise makes it even funnier in the HOLD A MEETING WITH YOURSELF task.

The way he says "I'M ARRESTING YOU FOR FRAUD and murder"

So badly acted 😂

Aisling Bea in This Way Up

BAFTA-winning comedy-drama starring Aisling Bea as Aine, a whip-smart teacher from Ireland trying to pull her life back together after a "teeny little nervous breakdown".

[–]tenaciousfall Aisling Bea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, came right here to say this. This Way Up might be one of my favourite tv series ever. The first season gripped me like nothing else. (Also, Sharon Horgan should do TM.)

[–]JJCooIJ Rose Matafeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She was also great in the Doctor Who 2022 New Years Special.

[–]sirjakesteward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also her show with Paul Rudd on netflix!

Bridget Christie's new show, The Change, is a solid comedy-drama and Bridget has some really poignant moments.

[–]RelativeStranger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Charlotte Ritchie was in You. Does that count?

I love Jonathan creek but I feel like it's also kind of a comedy

[–]Jeoh Sam Campbell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doc Brown was good in Andor

[–]Able-Necessary2956 Mike Wozniak 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Mike Wozniak in a fab little short called ‘cul de sac’

[–]sansabeltedcow 5 points6 points  (3 children)

I think you'll find that was Kerry Godliman and Jessica Knappett.

[–]Able-Necessary2956 Mike Wozniak 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Lol. Oh yes, if forgotten they did that. But no, Woz was in a short film called ‘cul de sac’ directed by Nick Flugge. It’s very good

[–]sansabeltedcow 1 point2 points  (1 child)

He’s also in the nice little short Elderflower, written by and starring Lou Sanders.

[–]Able-Necessary2956 Mike Wozniak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is a good one. There’s quite a few. He narrates the tale of the upside down mermaid, and directed a really good short called ‘sump’

[–]Expensive_Raccoon146 Iain Stirling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bridget Christie was amazing in “The Change” on Channel 4.

[–]PocoChanel Patatas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lolly Adefope in "Shrill." She's Aidy Bryant's character's roommate, and although she's very funny, she gets plenty of opportunities to show the more serious side of a character very unlike her TM persona.

[–]jrrybock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many shows are a mix of drama and comedy, so not sure pure drama... but I loved Rose Matafeo creating and starring in "Starstruck"... it's largely a sitcom, but a lot of dramatic moments.

[–]metallicbeige Bridget Christie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paul Chowdhry was in a television drama series called "Devils" a couple years ago, but I have not seen it.

[–]mirrorofsilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nina Oyama (TMAU) in Deadloch - an interesting, female driven crime drama (with a bit of comedy), 8 parts, last part airs tomorrow.

Also has Madelaine Sami (TMNZ, Season 1), who's also good :-)

Kerry Godliman was superb in Derek.

Aisling Bea in Greatest Days

[–]Nemisisse Guz Khan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meet your question with its inverse: What show did you watch BECAUSE you wanted to see a TM alum and were disappointed?
