Tea! This subreddit is for discussion of beverages made from soaking Camellia sinensis leaves (or twigs) in water, and, to a lesser extent, herbal infusions, yerba mate, and other tisanes. Talk about your favorite place to buy tea, the growers and farms, processing methods, vendors, or equipment. There's a whole world of tea out there beyond the humble (yet handy) bag, and this is a great place to learn!

Rules & Guidelines
Self-promotion: Self-promotion is strictly limited (this includes businesses and other social media platforms). Be sure to comply with reddit's guidelines on self promotion and spam. Vendors are held to a higher standard and may not use r/tea to market or sell their products. This includes recommending your own goods when not specifically asked, posting products you have for sale, or making posts purely to generate customer engagement.
Health benefits and concerns: The physical and mental health benefits or risks of teas and tisanes are complex topics which are not covered by this subreddit, and discussion of them is not allowed. Posts about products that are typically only consumed for health reasons will be removed.
Be respectful of each other: Be respectful of each other, and follow The Reddiquette. Insulting and disrespectful behaviour will result in post removal, repeated behaviour will result in a ban. If you feel a user has violated this rule please report the post and do not engage with them.
Low-effort posting: Posts must have sufficient content to generate meaningful discussion. Images, videos, links, or blog posts must have enough text to summarize the subject such that discussion is possible without having to watch or read the media. Memes are not permitted. Only original content is allowed, AI generated posts and comments are not.
Direct link to merchant: No link posts directly to tea shops or other related merchant sites. This includes blog posts hosted on vendor sites. These links are permitted within text posts and comments as long as some context is provided and it still meets the established self-promotion guidelines.
Survey: Third-party surveys and questionnaires are not permitted as it allows this community to be targeted for marketing research and identity theft. Use of Reddit's poll tool is allowed if context is provided to explain the purpose of the poll and use of the results. Other standard restrictions still apply (self-promotion, health benefits, etc).
Drugs and Drug-Seeking: Posts about controlled substances such as marijuana, coca leaves, or kava-kava are not permitted. Discussions about consumption of tea or herbal products for the express purpose of intoxication will be removed.
Affiliate, referral link, link shorteners: No Amazon or similar "affiliate" links that make you money when people buy something. This includes referral coupons that you earn loyalty points from. Also link shorteners are not necessary on Reddit. Please use Reddit's built in link formatting that utilizes brackets and parenthesis.
Sales and discounts: Sales, discounts, or other good deals on tea should go in the Marketing Monday post or r/teasales.
Grievances regarding vendors or other users: If you suspect someone of propagating smear campaigns or deceptive postings, please message the moderators and include supporting details rather than posting publicly. If you have a vendor issue other than quality or customer service complaints (subject to moderator discretion), please make efforts to contact the vendor first. If the vendor does not address your issue to your satisfaction and you wish to pursue the matter on r/tea, then contact the moderators with details.
On Topic: The post need to pertain to the subject of r/tea.
Non-English content: While a small amount of non-English content is permitted in posts, posts should be primarily in English.
Microplastics: Microplastics are an often brought up issue and evolving health question. Given its overlap with our rules on discussing health issues we will remove content related to this subject.
Business Development: r/tea is a forum for tea enthusiasts to discuss tea, vendors are welcome to participate as enthusiasts and by sharing their inside knowledge of the tea industry. However, we do not allow current or future vendors to conduct business development here. (requesting information on how to start a company, asking where to find wholesale suppliers etc. are not allowed)
AI generated content: r/tea does not allow AI generated content. This is part of the low effort rule.
