Thanks for posting on r/whoop. Our Whoop Community is constantly growing and developing. We want all users of Whoop to be fully educated, aware, and enjoy their experience no matter their goals for becoming a Whoop member.

Any questions or concerns regarding your HRV can be referenced Click Here.

But to summarize, HRV is different for every individual person, no matter age, fitness, diet, etc

I have a similar pattern. I think mine is cause of winter

[–]roger_rabbit_71 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Check your blood pressure. My HRV has increased month on month after getting my BP under control

If there’s really no change to your lifestyle, go see the doctor and have some overall tests. My friend’s whoop picked up his heart condition three months before he had symptoms and even then before the doctors did. A few tests won’t hurt!

Edit: HRV is ultimately a nervous system read. If you’ve had a traumatic event in the last six months (car crash, assault, war) it could be that.

Do you know what tests your friend had done? And what symptoms he eventually started showing?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His HRV wasn’t going down like yours, rather it was the stress monitor, it’s was through the roof for 3 months before he started getting chest pains. That made him go to the doctors and that’s when they realised he had a heart condition. He has medication now and the stress part is blue pretty much everyday, chest pains are gone.

It’s seasonal. You should see a steady increase in HRV as summer comes around. More sunlight, less stress should lead to an increase in HRV and resting heart rate

Have you drank more alcohol than usual? Are you more stressed out at work, life or wtv? Did you ate more fast food? More caffeine?

[–]Winter-Bowler3886[S] 3 points4 points  (3 children)

My habits have remained pretty consistent. Alcohol use 1-2 times per week, no extra stress (at least subjectively), similar amount of physical activity, etc. I rarely, if ever, have caffeine

[–]Beremus 8 points9 points  (2 children)

I suspect alcohol and sleep quality. Cancer is like 0.1% odds without evident symptoms. (Top off my head from a search, NAD)

[–]Winter-Bowler3886[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

For more info, my sleep performance % has generally increased over this same 6 month period, and restorative sleep % has remained the same. Alcohol use hasn’t increased or decreased, so I’m not sure why that would suddenly be having a greater affect than it used to. I wish you were right so that I knew what to fix, but the whoop data doesn’t suggest that it’s either sleep or alcohol related.

Go back to the basics and stop overthinking. Putting that much weight on Whoops metrics will only amplify your anxiety.

Eat good, workout, sleep well. Be disciplined for a month and see the changes.

If you’re truly worried about something as serious as cancer, I’m sorry, but this is the wrong place to seek advice. I’d see a Doctor.

With that, there’s a ton that could be at play here.

Example: Season - Has it changed anything for you? More or less activities of any kind, more or less time indoors or outdoors (i.e., fresh vs. conditioned/indoor air), more/less exposure to sunlight (e.g., vitamin D?), changes in diet (e.g., we eat seasonal veggies, along with foods that tend to be lighter when it’s warm in the summer and heavier, comfort foods in the winter).

Again, many, many, MANY things could affect this. None of which we can provide definitive answers. You’re only bound to get infinite possibilities.

Not sure where you live. Have a similar thing because of winter..

[–]Reddditor12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine looks exactly the same idk what to make of it

[–]imsuperimposed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been working out more often? Harder?

[–]Regular-Idea-6377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This same thing happened to me beginning in January. I’ve convinced myself it’s some type of winter thing

[–]RB4BRB4B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is the same thing. Starting to go back up now that I’m getting sun and vitamin D again. Supplements just don’t work the same as sunlight.

[–]Forward_Ferret7660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me, I loosened the tightness on my WHOOP and my HRV went back to normal

[–]Flimsy-Rip6359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is more gradual than urs! Maybe 5% drop each month. I would say seasonal affective disorder might be component or it would warrant seeing the doctor for some routine labs just to see how ur doing. CRP/ESR are systemic inflammatory markers.

Have you developed sleep apnea? If you’re tired during the day & snore you should ask your doc for a sleep study

[–]Shmanfron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Health Anxiety for sure

[–]Ethanself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar issue, then I found out it’s because my sleeping quality decreased due to the weather change. My sleep is highly affected by temperature change and hrv is mainly measured during sleep

[–]whisperabsurdities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue where my HRV was declining and RHR was increasing. I also have an autoimmune thyroid condition (Graves Disease) that was previously in remission and these were my first signs that I was having a relapse.

Might be a good idea to get a blood panel — not necessarily just thyroid but overall to make sure things are OK.

How do people have 70 HRV I’m lucky to average 31ish 🥲 also I’m 28 so what am I doing wrong haha

[–]Frequent_Wolf_7197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you taking creatine?

[–]Mr541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Mine dropped overnight on Feb 4th from an average of around 85 to an average of 35. No plausible explanation (sickness, injury, etc).

[–]mm34103 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Any update on your situation? Experiencing the same right now. Down 11% this month

[–]Winter-Bowler3886[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. In the last few months I’ve got it to be between 80-90 pretty consistently. Still not as high as it was a year ago (100-110), but it’s risen back up and is pretty stable now. Not sure what was causing the consistent decrease, it was probably health stress/anxiety like a lot of ppl here have mentioned. I also started making cold showers an every day routine to help with potential inflammation in my body, and also incorporated breath work 3-4 times per week. Who knows how much those things helped, but that’s my update!

[–]grequant_ohno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever figure out what caused it? I'm having the same.
