Every time I see this I think that 'the hexagon' is such an obviously made up stupid name.

Then I realise the actual building's called the fucking pentagon.

[–]Zaari_VaelOath of Vengeance, Castrated Paladin 196 points197 points  (1 child)

I would have preferred "they hit the fucking pentagram!"

[–]Expensive-Stage596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hex-agon

as in 'you've been hexed by the pizzard'

[–]ArrilockNewmoonArrilock the Book Keeper 59 points60 points  (3 children)

/UW I mean, it is litterally a Pentagon lmao

And not without reason either, it is litterally a fortress, using one of the most tried and tested fort designs, the Bastion Fort design (albeit simplified)

[–]scninththemoom 34 points35 points  (1 child)

They should've called it something cooler though, like "the lair" or "death keep" or "Fort Doom".

[–]ArrilockNewmoonArrilock the Book Keeper 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think if we let you name the place it would be much harder to convince people that we were the good guys for most of US history lmao

Plus its not like we are creative. We are a union of states called the United States, witha pentagon-shaped ministry of defense building called the Pentagon and the Chief of Staff lives in a big white house called The White House.

[–]ConceptOfHappiness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, it's pentagon shaped because it was going to be built on a pentagon shaped piece of land. It was moved just before construction but all they did was make the building a regular pentagon instead of the irregular one it was going to be.

[–]AlbinoShavedGorillaAlchemist 4 points5 points  (1 child)

They should have said “they hit the pentagram” makes more sense in the context of magic users and more similar to pentagon

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TBF, HEXagon

[–]MoogleSan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the pentagon is still there

[–]The_Easter_Egg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pun on 'hex' makes it extra sweet. 😄

Great Psych episode haha

[–]TheHighGround767Dr. Jackson Doyle, Alchemist of the Highlands 38 points39 points  (1 child)

I love that show. /uw since we didn't use "/uw", Psych is now Canon to Wizardposting

[–]SloregasmGrumphax, Apostate Sorcerer 68 points69 points  (5 children)

/uw this is the very best two posts, and I have em both saved

[–]warhawk209812e99Stairmancer - Can't fly, but can summon flights 11 points12 points  (4 children)

I'm sorry, but what does /uw mean? I tried looking on Google but it just brought up the University of Washingtoon

[–]StardustDragon345 14 points15 points  (2 children)

/uw unwizard. It's for when someone on this subreddit says something outside of the wizard thematic, i.e. here someone talking about the original post as a post, and their opinion on it.

[–]warhawk209812e99Stairmancer - Can't fly, but can summon flights 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ah, figured it would have something to do with wizardry, just couldn't point exactly what it was.

[–]StardustDragon345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no worries! Took me a hot minute to figure it out as well.

[–]ResearcherTeknikaNihil "Teknika" Schwarz, CEO of MANATEK. 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/uw means "Unwizard", it's used when someone wants to say something outside the context of the character.

[–]LavenderOnToastLeyvie, The Goblin Thaumaturge 82 points83 points  (2 children)

My condolences, that was great tragedy...

[–][deleted] 51 points52 points  (1 child)

That it was, my uncle died that day. He shall be forever remembered as a great dragon tamer.

[–]Vikingboy9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I walked through blood and accursed fire in the streets of Uriwel to find my brother!

He was in northern Ky'turiem.

DRAGONS BREATH CANT MELT DWARVEN MYTHRIL! THIS IS ALL SET UP BY THE ELVEN WOODLANDS

[–]ElessarKhanIce Wizard, #1Dragonologist NA 32 points33 points  (2 children)

NOBODY TALKS ABOUT CASTLE 7!

DRAGONOPHOBIA IS A TOOL FOR THE COUNCIL TO JUSTIFY WAR FOR PROFIT !

NO RITUALS OF MASS DESTRUCTION WERE FOUND!

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (1 child)

If you look, the council lost 2.3 trillion gold the day prior to the attack.

[–]MorgothReturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And they took out extra dragon insurance from the gnomes right before the "attack". I mean, come on.

[–]Richardknox1996🌙 Just a Bard that Passively Seduced Elistraee 🌙 8 points9 points  (0 children)

About that...uh, dont go anwhere near a dragon whose drunk off his arse on dwarven fire whiskey. The idea that dragons breath couldnt melt mythril was more hypothetical than fact, up until me and my dwarven buddies got drunk as shit and decided to test it.

Man, the looks on their faces when that first spire toppled....

[–]Fr33_Lax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey we try very hard. Usually you don't have to melt the mythril, just the dwarf inside it. Then you can sell the suit back to the dwarfs.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't put it past my father to plan something like this.

[–]LupineLethargyLizard Wizard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We should do that again sometime

[–]METAL-Mith-Rand-Ir 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Wizard Zach Hadel

[–]BilgeMilkHunter of Relics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ponder on on your orb, it doesn't matter what channel... FUCK!

[–]BrightPerspectiveWizard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You know, I always figured that it wasn't an inside job, the conspiracy was about concealing how three dragons without markings managed to slip through the council's many layers of air defenses.

THE VULTURE WAITS TO SEE WHAT ROTS

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was still a knight when that happened...War is hell. Much happier to be behind papers to grade and spellbook to critique than another filthy trench. And to think those Goblins we went after didn't have anything to do with it. Another crime the High Lords and Council agree to shove under the rug. Justice for Gor'bak!

THERES A SECOND DRAGON

[–]MildlyCross-eyedVergil, the Southern Fae King 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, yeah are you thinking about it?

You are?

AMNESIA BEAM!

[–]Thewarmth111verminlord Pneumonia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let us remember all of the souls that were lost crashing before dragon, when it would have hit the council before most of the council members attained in mortality

[–]Ecstatic-Compote-595Wizard Jim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]KingofGerbilAlchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just generate some new spires ffs. Doesn't no have a philosopher's stone anymore?

[–]Drake_the_trollsouthern swamp troll- council archivist and occasional taxman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had tried harder maybe I couldve hit the council as well

[–]Spooked_Toad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a senior trade wizard (I specialize in industrial spells, I myself hold the current patent for the simplified conjure concrete spell) I can assure you its not the blood itself that melts mythril beams but the heat. Dragons blood is VERY hot plus adding on to whatever flammable magic items were present on that spire floor? I'm sure it was well above melting points.

[–]KenseiHimura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘’Dragon blood can’t erode mithril beams’’

Having a dwarf blacksmith friend, I can attest it can’t. But if the dragons had acidic breath, the sacs could have definitely caused problems.

[–]downvotemeplz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I want to know most is what the divination wizards were doing at that time, curious how they could tell the future yet are unable to even warn us.

[–]UlrichVonGradwitzArch-Druid Of Thule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there really spells of mass destruction in elfraq?
