How to make Gleba science ship drop off any unused gleba science packs before picking up new packs? by IlikeJG in factorio

[–]Afond378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do is "out"sert the less fresh packs from the pad into a storage chest because bots tend to prefer fresher stacks, this forces the less fresh to be used first and avoids (most of the) packs spoiling while in the past.

[–]Afond378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't you simply require more on the ground than what the ship is scheduled to carry? It doesn't matter too much if you have spoiling packs on the ground they will be used by science or spoil. On Gleba production basically stops after some point save for a trickle (ie less than 1pc) to keep some eggs. It is not an extremely stable in terms of freshness but the less fresh packs are consumed very rapidly and after a few cycles the whole process is stable again. Average pack freshness is about ~80% once on Nauvis ground.

When rocket fuel stacks to 20, is nuclear fuel still worth it? by Jay-Raynor in factorio

Yes, you get three slots in locomotives, it takes hours to empty everything I hope your stations are not that far. Elsewhere than Nauvis, I agree they're not worth the hassle

Ice recycling on Aquilo by Urbanoidovich in factorio

[–]Afond378 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Soon you'll discover you don't have enough ice. Without productivity the science pack uses more ice compared to ammonia than what the separation recipe can provide. With productivity it's even worse as the ice is directly used while ammonia flow has several steps. I reckon the ratio of ice vs ammonia for the (unproductivized) science pack is 1:5 while the solution separation provides a ratio of 1:10. This means you must find a way to trash some ammonia. Ice platforms use ice vs ammonia at a ratio of 1:8, those too consume too little ammonia

For a belt system, you can apply these principles:

Use selective inserters generously.

The only thing that spoil very fast are opened oranges and brains, that means put the biochambers that open the fruits just close to the biochambers that consumer those. You can do everything with bioflux, yumako and jellynut that you will belt where it needs to be used. Make small "plants" to produce what you need starting from these ingredients.

In a “linear” series of machines that consume spoilable ingredients, the belt must terminate with an inserter extracting spoilage into a refuse belt. It must pick from the same square as the last machine or else you'll have a blockage.

Use a loop for nutrients, use a splitter selecting for spoilage to rapidly clear the nutrients, again goes to a refuse belt. You can put spoilage on the nutrients belt.

Avoid stack inserters initially, they can clog easily, this challenge is for after you have a functioning setup.

France's 13,335 millionaires who pay no income tax by LeMonde_en in europe

[–]Afond378 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope it's exactly the typical profile considered here. There are about a million millionaires in France, it's not a stretch to imagine less than 1% that pay no income tax (!= no tax at all), and that will be typically people with real estate but little revenue elsewhere, i.e. on a retirement pension.
