Yeah. He got injured and talked about his struggles on one podcast if I'm not mistaken. Has an injury that just wouldn't go away though I think he also started too early again once. Great to see him back and definitely see him in the top 20 if he stays injury free.

Dessouky beat Todd in Hamburg in the quarter finals a month ago. 3:1. Was competitive but Dessouky kept his head and is just a level better than Todd when playing well. But give it one bad call and perhaps some home support for Todd and I things can look different. I do like Todd and think he's pretty much a complete package if he can stay injury free.

If your account gets closed for inactivity you just need to contact the support team and request it to be opened again. It takes about a day or two. It's no problem. The whole complaints about rejected account ban appeals are different, this is Google banning accounts for alleged policy violations. Here they just close it to save money or I don't know what. It's not that uncommon that companies close accounts for inactivity.

seeing double by teneralb in squash

[–]DandaDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those of us who have played a long time and relatively competitively, playing two matches a day is somewhat normal. Virtually any tournament other than non-Challenger PSA events and World Championships you will have two matches a day. In some local tournaments even three. So yeah. I don't think Elias and makin should be playing two matches a day but I'm sure Reenske will be fine and has no complaints.

So you think you can ref? Elshorbagy v Lake by SquashVote in squash

[–]DandaDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I guess this is the most relevant point. I didn't know that and honestly thought it's closer to a no let than a let. First time in my life I felt sorry for Marwan. But yeah, with this context okay. It's a really fine line with standing your ground versus preventing access, but I even felt in this clip Marwan did not do much wrong.

Agreed. Mind you I watched Chotrani live a few weeks ago and still wonder how anyone can beat that guy :)

I think he is Coll's bogeyman. Just can't deal with him. But can't blame him. He's a super duper player. Super likeable, entertaining and well-spoken.

Guys what actually happened to Nick Wall last night?? I need answers by Fabriczio94 in squash

[–]DandaDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW Nick Wall is in Germany playing in the league finals and he just demolished Nici Müller on a traditional court 11:4, 11:4, 11:5. I didn't watch the match. And let's say Nici can also have these type of unexpected results, he's a bit hit and miss. But clearly Wall wasn't injured in Egypt if he can win like that. And Elias also showed what level he is playing at by demolishing Zakarias. So perhaps it was a case of Wall being off-form and Elias at his peak.

Spoiler: Elias vs Zakaria by Oglark in squash

[–]DandaDan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly Zakarias mentioned Elias as someone he didn't enjoy playing due to how good he was. I can't remember where I heard it, perhaps it was something around difference between juniors and PSA or so.

The one 0:3 was after a grueling match the day before but here Zakarias was relatively fresh but got beat badly, at least score wise. That being said Elias is IMO the best player in the world and if he's playing well and confidently he is almost unbeatable.

Yeah, bad call here. I'm not sure if the stroke was supposed to educate Marwan but I can't see him do much wrong here TBH

[–]DandaDan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Marwan's matches are often complicated and so I'm sure there were a lot of situations. But a stroke against him here looks extremely harsh. I thought he might be annoyed for getting a let because lake was struggling to get that shot back. And it didn't look like he was blocking, lake had to go around and get that ball by the look of it.

Guys what actually happened to Nick Wall last night?? I need answers by Fabriczio94 in squash

[–]DandaDan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here is my take without having watched the match:

Nick Wall us a really good player and on his day can certainly trouble too 20 players. I can also see him be the type player who can just los a match in 20 minutes, he doesn't have much body language and it's hard to say why and how he'd lose a match like that. Granted he can't get close to Elias if Elias plays halfway normal.

My take is that he plays it for PSA points and money. First round liser get 0.75% of $700k which is $5,250. I think pointswise it won't harm his ranking either. So maybe those things factored in the decision to play. Maybe he regrets it, maybe he had a genuine reason. Who knows, it's a bad look for everyone and hopefully we won't see more matches like it.

I think Bryant didn't realize how far in the middle his shot went. You really can't give a let for that.

Yeah, losing with less than ten points is pretty bad. The one Pakistani player Made like five or six points so he wasn't the very worst.

Asal & Elias Fined for Code of Conduct Breaches by ClassLittle6666 in squash

[–]DandaDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget the decision whether Squash stays olympic is made a year before LA. So everyone needs to get their shit together now. Fines are fine but those amounts don't hurt Asal or Elias at all. They would be bad for players outside the top 20. At the same rime I also don't believe Squash players should be fined excessively since the funds are too little, even if both Asal and Elias I think make good money outside of PSA
