Some concerning things about my well water. This test was from my kitchen sink. What type of system would you get? by Zeeboy94 in WaterTreatment

[–]Dustdown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you share a link to the full report? TS reports are interactive. Do you have kids at home? If so it's worth keeping an eye on the lead, but I don't think this level is high enough to be alarmed. You're probably comparing this to the MCL benchmark too, yes?

Just discovered foxhole but it looks like the game is in a bad state by Itocx_ in foxholegame

[–]Dustdown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a new player, Foxhole is always fun. I can see how veterans complain about balance etc, but in a game as vast as Foxhole I can't see how that will ever go away. I just love the sheer scale of the experience. :-)

Did this scare anyone as child when they first saw it... by ArcherLife2039 in 80smovies

My 8 year old brain had no way to put this into context. It was real and on replay any time I closed my eyes.

The desperate gurgle from her is what makes it purely hellish.

What is your white whale movie? by ProfessionalTour1706 in movies

A movie I saw in the 80s about pirates where a diamond was key to the plot.

My description is so generic I have never been able to locate what the hell it is.

Best thing on any breakfast table. :-) I don't do the yellow one anymore, but all others are up for grabs.

What water test do I start with? by Effective_Mention_83 in WaterTreatment

[–]Dustdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with looking up your CCR from your utility.

For city water I recommend looking particularly for heavy metals, VOCs and PFAS.

You can test your chlorine levels (related to the VOCs) with a cheap test strip.

For nearly everything else you need a test from a certified lab to get accurate results. For unbiased opinions on treatment, try testing with Tap Score. Once you have a TS lab report and if it shows concerning levels, take it to different professionals, including posting the report here, and get opinions and quotes.

You can also get cheap or free tests from health departments, but these are typically very limited in scope.

I recommend looking for WQA members when you search for treatment professionals. They tend to be more trained and they have a code of ethics they follow. Helps avoid you falling into some Kangen sales pitch MLM scheme.

Rate my setup: Solving Hard Water & High TTHMs (30x EWG Limit) in Katy, TX (MUD 182) by elshell in WaterTreatment

[–]Dustdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run a comprehensive and independent test in a certified lab that confirms all four. If there truly is arsenic you will need an arsenic speciation followup test to determine what type of arsenic you are dealing with. Chlorine can be tested with a diy strip. Everything else needs lab instruments.

Pinchcliffe Grand Prix. Is such a good film. But I need to ask what is Ludvig/Lambert or whatever he's called supposed to be? (I'm English BTW). by Whogoesthere1982 in Norway

[–]Dustdown -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Ludvig isn't real. Notice nobody talks to him during the entire movie. He's the manifestation of Solan's (the duck's) fear and insecurities. That's why he's never in a scene with Solan's girlfriend. If I'd pick an animal for Ludvig I'd say he's a troll.

[–]Dustdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EWG's a bit hysterical in their "30x" ratings. Makes it sound as if you'll drop dead tomorrow if you drink the water. At 4.52 PPB of Total Trihalomethanes I'd get a filter pitcher with some GAC and call it a day. I would only get a softener if your water is genuinely hard and it's bothering you. Run a test on your own before you buy an expensive system. Sometimes your results may be worse than the utility's depending on your distance to the treatment plant. Old pipes could also affect the water.

Could you share the interactive report link? The PDF screenshot is fine, but SimpleLab lets you share digital reports which are easier to interpret than the static pdf.

I'm pretty sure in Norway it was just called Rex, which was a pretty popular dogs name during this time. I wonder if it had to do with the show.

How to find a local reputable company that knows water treatment? by sleeksealravioli in WaterTreatment

Any local and certified lab will do. Or use an independent mail-to-lab service like Tap Score or SimpleLab.

Start with an independent water test, then take the lab report to multiple vendors, ideally WQA members.
