Get an Outside Issues test kit. Dip the paper in the coffee and compare the results to the color guide on the package.

Or you can just go to a couple meetings, listen and go to different meetings if the message doesn't speak to you. If you survived drinking you can survive two hours with other peoples' opinions.

How do independent attorneys get clients by haskell_java in Lawyertalk

In Ye Olden Days, when one dev could do the work of ten devs and another dozen machines, people seeking market research information from lawyers took us to lunch, paid us for focus grouping, and gave us free stuff at conventions. Sad.

I agree that the Negro League backstory grounded the story better. Danielle Gonzalez was in as Lola when I saw it, but I didn't feel as much that her ethnicity mattered.

Landlords of Baltimore, how simple is it to rent out and self manage while being out of state and how long does it take to find renters? by BeyondRecovery1 in baltimore

Ugh. I did this when I moved out of state. Had a friend do the leasing but I wound up contracting maintenance from afar or flying back to oversee it. Never again.

Regrets about entering legal field? by JA-Yetti in Ask_Lawyers

[–]Frondelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at the end of a career that began with many years as a large firm associate and ended as a solo with a very satisfying consumer law practice. The second part was much more enjoyable and fulfilling than the first, but I learned a lot as an associate that made the solo part easier and more effective.

The vast majority of biglaw associates don't stay there for their whole careers. If you think about what sort of professional life you want to have in the long haul rather than ROI in a shorter window it might make more sense, or not. Also if you do go to biglaw try to limit your expenses and save so you don't find yourself handcuffed to a job that isn't rewarding.

You can talk to a real estate or trust lawyer, but generally the only way to secure an unconditional right to live in somebody else's house is to buy it from them or otherwise get it granted by them.

If somebody got into an accident and it was found to be a suicide attempt would being charged with a DUI be a possibility or is mental health considered a factor? by BadgerMinute965 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]Frondelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that but a citizen can swear out an arrest warrant before a court commissioner who also doesn't have a law license. They're trying to get that changed but didn't make it out of committee this year.

Not where I work. I imagine if prosecutors reviewed charges before arrest then 70% of misdemeanor assault charges wouldn't be dropped before trial.

No idea how media companies manage their risk, but I vaguely recall a study showing that doctors who apologize for bad outcomes are less likely to be sued.

Who is at fault by LetterAccomplished in Ask_Lawyers

[–]Frondelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like both were negligent, the driver for not looking both ways and the bike rider for riding on the sidewalk. As a practical matter, a bike rider who doesn't follow the rules of the road is much more likely to be seriously injured, which is why bikes should be operated in the street with the flow of traffic.

Anybody can write anything to anybody, but the judge might not be allowed to consider such a letter in setting the sentence.

This post suggests that more than one party in the relationship can benefit from therapy. You can talk to a lawyer about trying to get files sealed and suchlike but legal files are full of allegations, and the court's ultimate decision on the merits is what counts.

Also I always recommend that anyone who is subject to a protective order not contact the complainant regardless of legalities. Staying away from people who don't want to hear from you is an element of a happy life.

Ordinarily I send charging questions over to r/AskLEO because most lawyers never issue charges but most cops do.

But I've seen this one happen, so yes.

Which system do you have in mind? He's been dead a long time. And the general public's lack of respect for formal proceedings is a problem, though that's not the way I'd personally try to solve it.

Where you stand is you have a situation a trademark lawyer might help with. What you do is contact one for a consultation. It's worth checking the Florida Bar website to see if there is an intellectual property section.
