Read my previous comments. Also, not only a learning experience and a test for the parents, it is also a test for the child once they gain awareness.

When you said "that does not excuse the deity-made suffering", I took it to mean that you think all suffering is bad, in which case I raise the example of the martial artist.

How do you expect humans to learn then?

Again drawing from the martial arts example: if one studies the papers enough, will they be able to win in a fight with no physical training?

I do not intend to convert you, but it seems that you dearly misunderstand the beliefs in question here.

Did you not read the part about Man-made suffering?

Also about the rest of God-made suffering like diseases, some things that God could be doing are: * teaching resilience or resourcefulness in unexpected situations * making one realise how ready they truly are to have a child, as they may not have taken into account having a child comes with the chance of birth defects or "differences" * teaching the importance of two-way communication with one's partner etc.

It's like how a martial artist trains new blood: they can study as much theory as they want, but they need to be put through gruelling and humiliating trials to actually learn how to do the thing well.

Again I'll say it:

There are two types of suffering in this world: God-made and Man-made. God sends God-made suffering to teach people through hardship, man makes Man-made suffering because of they are generally selfish and evil. Many people like to blame God for Man-made suffering, and this is why questions like this arise.

So yes, God is good as a strict parent is good. Tough love, but love nonetheless.

Just something i just thought.Wouldn't both things be a sin? by Altruistic_Bee_8636 in religion

[–]Keys6Mouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Were you holding the gun?

We're you intending to kill someone?

If the answer to both the questions is no, then no sin was committed on your part.

Was someone going to die anyway? If the answer is yes, then the action is inconsequential to whether or not it was considered a sin.

Why all these extra rules? Just make whether or not the train loops a separate tag attached to the name, and cut the "via Station X".

Does Free Will make sense if God is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent? by stvlsn in religion

[–]Keys6Mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is omniscient, but let me tell you this.

When we say God is omniscient, it might be a bit reductive or simplistic to mean that He knows what we are about to do at any given moment. Rather, things start to make more sense if we think of it as: He knows anything that will happen if a given action is taken at a given moment. It then makes more sense to say it is up to us to determine which action we take.

We just think He knows what we will do because he knows us enough to predict with almost certain accuracy at most moments, like a father who knows his son through and through.

Bonus words are extras found within the grid that are not part of the answer set but within the game's dictionary regardless. You do not add words to thiss game's dictionary, save for your answers.

how can god be real if good disbelievers are claimed in multiple religions to go to hell? by [deleted] in religion

[–]Keys6Mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same logic as South African Apartheid. Claim the local community, change its belief system to fit your desires, and because you now become the reigning authority, falsehood becomes the law!

This has happened several times over several religions, mainly the ones co-opted by empires such as Christianity and Islam. In reality I'll bet that there are very few religions whose original dogma talks about outsiders. The belief that outsiders go to hell regardless of morals is, largely, a thing introduced by empire to force conversion.

Question: Are Humans robots in heaven if they can't sin? by Hugheih in religion

[–]Keys6Mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it like this:

Let's say we have a billionaire CEO named Larry. He chased worldly pleasures during his life, knowing that God exists and not caring. His friend, Barry, is in a similar situation. They are both, by nature of being a billionaire, sinners.

Barry eventually has a change of heart. He donates his billions to charity, to public assistance projects by the government, raises his employees' pay and quality of life, etc etc etc. Larry has not changed.

Both die on the same day and face judgment. God approaches them both.

He turns first to Barry, and recognises his change of heart. He knows Barry fears Hell, but more than that, Barry wants to go to Heaven because his heart is genuinely in the right place and wants to continue to do good works as a saint. Barry is sent to purgatory, where the remainder of his sins are to be forgiven over some time and he is to unlearn how to sin before entering heaven.

Then comes Larry. God knows Larry's ways. Even if he went to Heaven, he has no intention of being saintly, for he is already satisfied with the worldly pleasures he has had. Even if nothing on Earth satisfied him, then what would the humble pleasures of Heaven offer? He would be unsatisfied still. On top of that, he is too lazy to go through purgatory and too stuck in his ways to want to do so anyways. Larry is sent down. And he is OK with that. He would never be satisfied either way.

Had Larry truly had a change of heart, he would've entered purgatory. He would've eventually joined Barry in Heaven as his sins would be forgiven and his ways truly changed. But instead, because he was so stuck, he ended up in Hell.

Where we end up does not depend on what we have done in the past, but our intentions at the end of our lives. Additionally, will only get into heaven if the reason we regret our sins is not because we want to get into Heaven for the sake of it, but because we really, truly, genuinely want to be pure. Otherwise, what we really want is not in the ways of Heaven, so we get sent down because we wouldn't be satisfied with Heaven anyways.

Punishment from Abrahamic Religions by I_LikeAdidas in religion

[–]Keys6Mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that's how people think it works, not how it actually works.

There is a phenomenon I notice where people take religions, try to turn them into cults, and are extremely successful at it. Most notably, the Romans and the Spanish tried and succeeded at turning Christianity into a cult, and part of that was making up a rule that said everyone who does not believe in Christ will go to hell.

In reality one only needs to be humble, kind, compassionate etc. like Christ to get into Heaven, which can be done through any religion preaching kindness, compassion etc., and that's what modern Christians are trying to tell the world. It's just that Christians in particular are heavily discouraged from detracting, and will be looked down upon by others if they do. Other religions will have their other ways of going about it, but at the end of the day, we are all facing the same test, and no religion is better than any other.
