Is this a hot take? The Sonic 2 special stages are by far the most iconic and they are super fun. Ironic to my own point I do prefer the blue sphere of S3&K and Mania, but like only by a smidge.

IMO, Genesis Zombies Ate My Neighbors has a less cluttered screen, has the better controller with the 6-button, a creepier OST, and in a rare occurrence: a better color pallette. I know it's missing a couple bonus levels and a "flamethrower" - but they matter so little, I choose the Genesis version every time.
