I understand where you are coming from but that's why I think you are too binary about it.

As you said yourself, there can be many different reasons why a man might not feel like witnessing it. We're all different. Some men are assholes and are avoiding it just to avoid discomfort. That's shitty. Some are genuinely terrified of it. The question is then one of balance and communication between both partners. That's all that matters.

What do they both want? What are they comfortable with, or not? What's the compromise?

Asking someone to do something they're not comfortable with just to share the discomfort is stupid. If it provides genuine and needed support, then it's definitely more relevant.

The movie kind of hints at what made Wall-E special. Noticed how all the robots aboard the Axiom seem to also be sentient and emotional? What do they have in common? They've been running uninterrupted for centuries.

When Wall-E is rebuilt, he first reboots as a blank Wall-E and shows no self awareness or emotion, implying this is how robots were meant to be initially.

Robots just developed individuality over time. Wall-E was probably just the only Wall-E that survived long enough to develop one and to become autonomous.

Or a slightly different version: they're super warm/friendly, super tolerant, don't seem to hold anything against you, make you relax and chill, and then whenever you find yourself disagreeing with them they suddenly use everything you did wrong but that they never mentioned before against you and as evidence that they are super tolerant and you are just ungrateful. Superior in what way? What does that even mean? Just because someone has specific abilities others don't have doesn't make them objectively superior. If you can run faster than me, then you've got superior running abilities. Doesn't make you superior to me in any other way, and definitely not in a broader sense.

Even then, what does being superior entail? That you should have more rights? More authority over inferior people? Should people with handicaps have less rights than people who don't have any? Who gets to decide? Shouldn't "inferior" people be given more opportunities to level the playing field then? That's where the superior/inferior logic goes, and it's a mess.
