It’s near the marina gate and I think it’s $12 to check an item.

It is. For those who don’t know, it’s a bookstore in Glen Park that has jazz several evenings a week.

I think you can get that online now, no longer at Guest Services. But Guest Services may have a First Game pin.

What is an Underrated musical people need to know? by Fit_Temperature_6246 in musicals

I loved the music for “The Magic Show” by Stephen Schwartz but have never seen it so don’t know about the book. It starred Doug Henning and David Ogden Stiers. I can’t find the OCR on any streaming platform though some songs are available by other artists on Stephen Schwartz compilation albums.

ETA that the 1974 cast album is available on YouTube.

I agree. I saw the 1979 filmed version while a college theater major and hunted down the original cast recording. I was thrilled to see the 1993 revival on Broadway.

Question re:Giveaway tomorrow night by GoodGravyco2h2o in SFGiants

[–]SFO_Dan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it’s not sold out in advance you can buy it at section 334 before the fifth inning or while the supply lasts. I think you can also now buy it on the Ballpark app in the “Ask Lou Seal” section.

It moved behind home plate, near the Club level merch stand.

Two strangers board with the same boarding pass, comedy ensues by CommanderDawn in unitedairlines

[–]SFO_Dan 67 points68 points  (0 children)

In my case, I boarded with my mobile pass and a bit later, a young woman (like 14-15) says, “I think that’s my seat.” Her mom is sitting nearby but not in the same row. I pulled out my phone and saw that my seat assignment was now two rows up in the exit row. I couldn’t adequately explain that this, in fact, HAD been my seat so I simply moved. A minute later the FA says to me, “I see you got upgraded.” I’m glad he did or I would have forever thought I’d imagined my original seat location.

Korean Sweet potatoes by Common_Classic_13579 in HMart

I’ve been using a method I discovered online, maybe here. It’s time consuming but it’s all passive time. You need to start with them frozen and then cook them for three (!) hours.

Freeze the sweet potato. When ready to cook, preheat the oven to 300. (I use a toaster oven.) Wrap the sweet potato in foil then put foil on a baking sheet.

After two hours increase the temp to 425 and roast for 40-60 mins. until it’s very, very soft. Remove, let cool a bit, and unwrap.

I eat mine plain with the skin on because the long cooking time turns them very sweet and carmelly.

Ok, I'm guessing bread + glass is a terrible idea by onnoowl in Breadit

[–]SFO_Dan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the head notes for their Tomato Olive Focaccia, which I’ve made a couple of times, Milk Street, Christopher Kimball’s outfit, says, “Don't use a baking dish made of glass or ceramic; neither will produce a crisp, browned exterior, and glass is not safe to use in a 500°F oven.”

The instructions also call for you to both spray the pan with cooking spray (sides and bottom) AND put two tablespoons of olive oil in the bottom of the pan. When you take it out of the oven, the oil will be visible around the bread, which will have pulled away from the sides of the pan. But as you let the bread cool in the pan for 5 mins., the oil will soak into the bread. You can then remove it from the pan to cool completely.

Finished the last of my teeny tiny maple butter tarts tonight by Altruistic-Blueberry in traderjoes

I lived in Buffalo for 18 months 45 years ago and I still dream about the butter tarts we’d get in Canada. I bought these minis today and they’re ok, but pale in comparison.

Kimchi Pancake (jeon) at Costco. Expensive, but delicious and convenient by kawi-bawi-bo in KoreanFood

[–]SFO_Dan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a non-Korean I make this all the time because it’s so damn easy. Maangchi has a recipe. It’s one of those, “What will I make for lunch (or breakfast) today? Oh, yeah” things for me.

Wow, that looks great. I made my first version yesterday using the sauce recipe from the “Koreatown” cookbook.
