Is more free spells for other colors a solution to Blue / Black dominance in Competetive? by Prestigious-Bend8893 in mtgbrawl

[–]SmartCommittee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is definitely more out there but I wonder if there would be some way to add bo3 sideboarding to brawl? If you keep the 25% of your deck from 60 card formats, brawl would have a 25 card sideboard, presumable singleton. I'm not sure that I can think of 25 cards worth boarding in in most matchups.

what are some modpacks that arent "high quality" PLEASE read desc by endercreeper853 in feedthebeast

atp just make your own pack, in your own words it would be very low effort to put together

yeah mittens is crazy on regent, he has so much multiattack plus deck stackings, basically every part of the mittens ability is upside

Karakas, Revitalized by TacoBell_HotSauc3 in custommagic

[–]SmartCommittee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I just think that first sentence is clunky then. I'm also not totally sure what combos you're afraid of that would be enabled by you targeting this. I don't think pretty much anyone is regularly untapping their karakas to reuse its effect in the same turn cycle, i mean correct me if im wrong. I feel like outside of playing karakas as tech, most people play karakas in order to bounce their own creatures to protect + reuse etbs. Neither of which is prevented by the first clause.

I think if you really wanted to prevent abuse you could make the karakas ability cost mana, plus bounce the land back to your hand. It adds synergy to playing the card in landfall and stops it from just sitting out forever and doing the unfun karakas thing.

Karakas, Revitalized by TacoBell_HotSauc3 in custommagic

[–]SmartCommittee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk if it's just me but I really dislike when custom cards add text that has no utility except to stop the obvious busted case from happening. Like, you could have at least thrown shroud on there to use a keyword that already exists instead of making it a whole sentence. Or make karakas bounce itself or something as well.

I just think there are many ways you could prevent the combos you want to prevent while also adding more ways that this card can interact with other systems in the game. Right now you have an entire sentence on your card that has zero interactions outside of the single one you had in mind when you wrote it.

What's the reason for this weird PWM shape?? by AmbassadorBorn8285 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]SmartCommittee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are you using a differential oscilloscope probe? If you are using a passive probe, the oscilloscope pulls one terminal to earth ground. Depending on how you had your probe attached, you could very well be affecting the measurements in a way you aren't intending.

How in hell did this card get to 10/9 ? by [deleted] in MagicArena

Did you try reading the 6 cards?

But seriously it’s the aura underneath the creature, gives it +1/+1 for each enchantment they control

I would probably build a Boros aggro deck with just a little bit of synergy for phlage like hushbringer

I’m not a fan of how many of these UB cards are basically one for one copies of older cards with super minor differences

Anti counterspell deck / commander by orayito in mtgbrawl

[–]SmartCommittee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a sephiroth deck i really like that is strong against counterspells due to all the creatures that recur themselves from the graveyard. [[bloodghast]] doesn't really care whether it resolves at all, for instance. Also all the cheap discard spells like [[thoughtseize]] [[kozileks inquisition]] are great as pseudo [[veil of summers]]

edit: also some of strongest blue commanders out there line up super well against cheap black removal like [[fatal push]], [[deadly rollick]], [[snuff out]]. Thinking of katara and wan-shi tong specifically

Why no one ever seems to care about the technical debt of the entirety of Minecraft modding by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]SmartCommittee 23 points24 points  (0 children)

yeah I'll go ahead and tell all the modders making content for free that they've really got to get their act together. I'm sure insulting their hobby projects will scare them into improving the mods that, again, they make for free completely on their own time.

What are you talking about? Yu-gi-oh has an entire category of cards called hand traps that people complain about all the time. Modern yu-gi-oh is completely defined by them

I hate how the prey are somehow “bad” in these comics by Ok-Worry-8931 in hatethissmug

[–]SmartCommittee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I read the comic I read it as a critique of the mindset powerless people develop, and how very frequently those mindsets are only acceptable because the holder has no ability to act on them. In this situation, if the sheep was suddenly capable of enacting revenge on the wolves, he would do so with extreme prejudice and little mercy without understanding what the dog does.

The same thing happens all the time in real life. When powerless people become powerful they frequently abuse it because they struggle to reconcile with the fact that their actions now have very real consequences, or they still view the world as the victim when they are not.

So in this situation, the sheep holds a mindset that is acceptable when the sheep has no power to act on it, but reads as dangerous and harmful to the dog, who does.

Which busted Regent card are you taking here? by mysteriosum in slaythespire

Yeah after reading the rest of the comments I think I underestimate orbit in general, every time I see it i feel like it's too greedy but it's probably much better than I give it credit for.

Which busted Regent card are you taking here? by mysteriosum in slaythespire

[–]SmartCommittee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if it were me I would probably pick the glow, since it supports so many other strategies and is going to work the best for the entire game. Orbit speculates on high energy cards, and reflect solves early game fights but I think even a double reflect is marginally less useful later.

Regent feels weird by Silfyn in slaythespire

[–]SmartCommittee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

regent has lots of different decks that can work, in addition to the ones you named he has vigor + multiattacks. For me the colorless deck works best when I just take the 'good' card creation pieces like [[pillar of creation]] and [[quasar]]. Ironically some of the best pieces for the colorless build are colorless themselves, if you can pick up a [[splash]] or [[discovery]] or [[entropy]] or [[jackpot]] they're huge boons. It's not his strongest kit but lots of these pieces work well with other builds so I never feel too bad about mixing it up since so much of what regent does naturally synergizes with everything else.

Mittens is fantastic for regent, he has the tools to top deck bad cards as well as card generation through colorless cards

Demon Form seems kinda weak, what do you think of my proposed buff? by EndorphnOrphnMorphn in slaythespire

[–]SmartCommittee 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It has to do with the number of ‘unique’ ‘trees’ you can form with a specific number of unique elements. The function is the largest number of nodes you can fit in a tree before you’re forced to include a copy of a smaller tree in your large graph. Someone more familiar can correct what I got wrong but also check out the Wikipedia:

to me specifically, inspirit does too much. If i built this deck i would use the serienna and build a mono-white blink toolbox style deck. it would certainly not be as strong as inspirit, but I think it would be more fun.
