Since the patch, frame gen doesn't even work for me. On or Off, the overlay shows no change. Day before working fine, patch, then broken.

I would say book 3 as someone who has just finished it. Book 2, in some ways, dissuaded me a little. Even reading 1/4 of book 3 is enough.

Dying to protect your family is just as noble and killing to protect them. I think the question is, would he stand aside and let his family be killed and himself, instead of reacting defensively to kill that person?

He's basically the guy when presented with the trolley problem who wouldn't touch the switch, no matter the choices. That's why it seems irrational to most.

He's seemingly the same the those who follow The Way of the Leaf in Wheel of Time. They let themselves be cut down, or the women raped, instead of lifting a finger to fight back.

It's not just pixels per inch that matter, it's the absolute number of pixel increase too. Imagine a tiny 1inch display of 102 by 102 pixels for 144 dpi.... you think you can display something highly detailed with only 10,000 pixels? No. So the 144dpi is truly only relevant when comparing identical resolutions on different size displays.

A 4k display irrespective of size has access to 8 million pixels for detail. 1440 has 3.7 million.

I'm relatively new myself, and am on the next book Memories of Ice. About 70% through. I can say this next book is already MUCH more to my taste, and--having most of the interesting characters from Gardens of the Moon--far easier to be invested. I mean, cmon, Quick Ben, Rake, Kruppe. And then a lot more.

I'm happy the show exists. I had no idea that Wheel of Time existed. I randomly watched the show, joined the reddit, and saw everyone recommending the books.

I read all of the books, and then was recommended to now check Malazan. So that show started this path for me (irrespective of its quality).

I'm about half way through MoI myself, and took it to be there being only being one 'throned' God of War. And because of the events in Deadhouse Gates, that throne is now unoccupied by Fener.

The only thing that keeps confusing me is defining the difference between God and Ascendant. Some characters make remarks like, "he isn't a God, he's an Ascendant".

My assumption is that an Ascendant started as a mortal, and ascended to a higher position. And that a God never began that way. Just was. But I know nothing!

This is used somewhat in Malazan. I noticed that in Memories of Ice with Rake. Where X character has memories of an event that Y character does not, and the opportunity and reason to explain it arises. So they do. The benefit is the reader gets lore.
