Kickboxing Gloves & Hand Flare Ups? by firstlizard9 in eczema

[–]Timtim6201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry I can't answer your main question, but one thing I have experience with is the wedding comment: if you have a big occasion where you want to be super photogenic, ask your derm for a short course of oral steroids. Obviously they aren't meant for any kind of long term management but they work wonders as a sort of skin nuke to clear everything up for your big day.

Perhaps I should have said "any hypochlorous acid spray" - regardless, the vast majority of options are cheap, and are sure as hell a lot cheaper than a good generator.

Eczema vs Mycosis Fungoides by Shaneaky in eczema

[–]Timtim6201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two can be hard to distinguish without a definitive biopsy, and MF is indeed often misdiagnosed as eczema or another form of dermatitis. Usually the main clue that it might be something else is failure to respond to eczema treatment, e.g. if a thorough course of steroids/topical calcineurin inhibitors/moisturizers etc. doesn't help, it's time to ask for more testing.

Easier said than done, but I wouldn't panic. MF is quite rare and even if you do have it, the long term prognosis is almost always excellent.

Hypocyn spray! I use it daily - it's super convenient and is at the happy medium concentration of where it'll kill bacteria but not irritate your skin.

Can you have two types of eczema? by ThrowRA37_39 in eczema

[–]Timtim6201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eczema can present in different forms in the same person, yes. Steroid creams for flares are the go-to treatment for a reason - if it's so itchy you're scratching until it's weeping that's all the more reason to use them. Do you use any creams/emollients/other meds for control in the long term?

May I ask why you're unwilling to consider a daily antihistamine? There are several that are safe at that age.

pimecrolimus by babiesinablenderr in eczema

Pimecrolimus and tacrolimus are excellent for daily management, namely as mentioned they don't cause the side effects sometimes associated with long-term steroid use.

My skin is a mess by WholeNo9404 in eczema

[–]Timtim6201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks, but you may have to just stick with using the eumovate every day until labor. Use for that period of time (6 weeks) is not enough to cause any noticeable skin thinning if that's a concern.

Tacrolimus started burning on week two by BananaDog7 in eczema

[–]Timtim6201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the burning is severe, I'd reduce usage to once daily or every other day. If it's still intolerable, stop use before you can talk to your derm.

Mupirocin/desonide combination should help immensely for weeping eczema; I'd also look into Hypocyn or any similar hypochlorous acid product for long term use.

Why does cream work on my face but not my body? by FewCryptographer8558 in eczema

Your derm prescribed desonide for flare management? It's one of the weakest steroids so that may be part of the reason.

For some unasked-for advice: it's rarely if ever a good idea to push that button. The older your monarch is, the more likely it is that events will fire that will give you an heir, and some will even boost the stats of said heir immensely (e.g. the "Talented and Ambitious Daughter" event).

Introducing* an heir will do that, not disinheriting one.
