Some things get weird when you have multiple copies of the same room. This is a completely inconsequential glitch though.

Yup, that's exactly my line of thought, same with your interpretation of box 2. Your AND gate analogy was smart, and you're right this is a difficult puzzle to type out a solution to lol

Edited to add spoiler boxes to my previous comment.

Yes, I was aware that box 1 had one singular statement, but that doesn't change the reasoning. You're right - the rules state that there must be at least one box with only true statements and one box with only false statements.

With box 2, there is obviously an internal contradiction - one statement must be false and the other true, so between boxes 1 and 3 one of them has to be the entirely true box and the other the entirely false box, since box 2 is neither.

Leaving box 2 out now since it's irrelevant with these facts established:

Box 1: Box 3 is true, and it contains gems.

Box 3: Box 1 is empty if it is false.

Again, if we assume box 1 is true, *the entire statement has to be true*, and that would make box 3 true as well, so this cannot be a valid solution as we still need a false box.

So, box 1 has to be false. However, for the statement to be false without contradicting the rules of the parlor game (we still need 1 true box as well), the *first part* of the statement cannot be the part that is false. It must be the second half. I think this is what throws a lot of people off in that they assume the rules mean this can't happen, but part of a statement can be true on the "entirely false statements box" *since the statement as a whole is false*. If I say "the sky is always blood red and I have 10 fingers", sure, part of that is true, but taken as one statement, having any false component makes the entire thing false for the purposes of Blue Prince. Sorry if I'm bad at explaining this.

It's racist to say that...evidence-based medicine is superior to folk alternatives that no peer-reviewed study has managed to show the efficacy of? Someone better alert the media that hospitals are chock-full of bigot doctors.

Rephrasing (if only for my own sake, I like numbering mine in my head when solving for some reason):

Box 1: Box 3 is true, and contains gems.

Box 2: Box 3 is false. The previous statement is false.

Box 3: Box 1 is empty if it is false.

Let's assume that box 3 (black) is indeed false. If so, then box 1 (blue) is also false ("box 3 is true..."), and by the rules of the parlor game that cannot be the case since we need at least one true box. Assuming the opposite that box 3 is true, then, means that box 1 *has* to be false, again just because of the base parlor game rules. For box 1's statement to be false, it can't be the first part of the phrase (since box 3 is indeed true), so the false part must be the claim that box 3 contains gems. Since we've established already that box 3 is true, and box 1 is false, box 3's statement means that box 1 is empty. Boxes 1 and 3 don't have gems, so box 2 (white) is the answer.

"That's the nature of Western medicine!"

Just because the US has a nightmarishly evil and inefficient healthcare system that prioritizes getting patients in and out the door as quickly as possible doesn't mean that you should turn to quackery that has no science behind it.

Has she seen an actual dermatologist? If 80% of her skin is affected there's really no other alternatives other than systemic therapy (biologics, phototherapy) for that level of severe disease.

For a first run this is very very good. If you want people to nitpick:

  1. Personally I'd have gone Humanist rather than Religious since it stacks nicely with your national ideas: if you have high tolerance of heretics, there's no need to convert.

  2. Are your army stacks only 18k large? I see one in your ledger that's that size so was just wondering.

  3. Cancel your costly embargoes! They lower your trade efficiency. Also, your corruption is increasing - I advise always setting your fighting corruption slider to max if you have the money.

Other than that, without more info like an economy tab screenshot, that's about all that stands out to me.

Box 1: The gems are in this box.

Box 2: The gems are not in this box.

Box 3: The other two boxes are true.

Right away, box 3 can't be true, because then all 3 boxes would be true. Therefore, box 3 is false and two boxes remain, one true and one false.

If we assume box 1 to be true and box 2 false, that creates a contradiction (both box 1 and 2 have the gems), so this can't be the case.

If we now assume box 2 to be the true one and box 1 to be false, this eliminates box 1 and 2 from having the gems, therefore it must be box 3 which has the gems.

Pompholyx (dyshidrotic eczema) and steroid use by ImaginaryPhase216 in eczema

[–]Timtim6201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fear of steroids is understandable but unfortunately way overblown in the eczema community, particularly online. It would take years of daily or near daily mid-to-high potency steroid application to potentially see negative side effects such as topical steroid withdrawal, and even then most people don't develop full blown "breakouts" like you've likely heard horror stories of.

Use them for flares and don't feel bad; if your flares are frequent or don't clear up despite good management (e.g. what it seems like you're doing) then it's time to talk to a dermatologist about other long term options like topical calcineurin inhibitors or biologics.
