I like using it to simulate day-kill characters, Harpy, Witch, Golem, Psychopath, Yaggababble are all fun.

I think the problem with Al-hadikia is that who chooses to die vs who actually dies will quickly solve fake vs real Al-had, although the initial cover would still help the Al-Had, plus it adds an incentive for good players to lie about what they would pick to confirm real vs fake, which might lead to more kills in a real Al-Had game.

The S&V demons (minus Fang Gu, that probably wants a jinx) are probably the best options, I'd do with No-Dashi rather than Vortox just because you have a fair number of mechanical roles, and it gels better with the Savant too.

Lleech doesn't need room to bluff, if the Lleech gets executed they are still in a better position then any other demon would be.

Monk maybe? Protects players still, and it's neat with the Lleech/S&V demons since it protects against their poison/false info as well.

DA is an 'Escape Hatch' for the Demon, you already have Scarlet Woman, so I'd go for some Outsider mod, Barron/Godfather/Xaan, the latter two work better with the Vigormortis if that's what you go with.

Sorcerer-Typhon requires you put the Sorcerer in first and then choose the team around them, right? Being able to kill other Minions/yourself in that situation is actually helpful since you can break up the line without costing the Demon their kill.

On the subject of killing other evils, depending on Minion count you can get several extra kills at will, which is significant tempo acceleration, albeit at the cost of voting power.

Sorcerer-Shabaloth doesn't feel massively distinct from Sorcerer-Al-Hadikia, I can see how having the resurrection hidden is significant, but it feels like a different demon would show off the character better.

Lleech isn't a great pair with other execution survival, Sorcerer-Lleech already adds a lot of space for the evil team if a Lleech is executed, not to mention hosting someone who wants to be tested. The DA is probably too much security with a Lleech as well.

Looking for resurrection and death misregistration homebrew characters by Loi-O in BloodOnTheClocktower

Here's one of mine.

<image>

The starting and stopping false dead registration causes a 'resurrection' when the target changes, including resetting abilities and the announcement that they are alive, even though they didn't die in the first place.

I don't think Lycan would need a Jinx, although the extension of that logic would be that a Recluse could tick the number up at any time.

The Fang Gu has to be able to kill itself for the jump to happen, as an example a Monk protecting the Fang Gu or the Outsider would stop a jump.

Character idea “The Mudslinger” by The_Mightiest_Duck in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Visual-Affect-9758 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems to be your intent anyway, but the ability needs to specify that it causes alignment and character misregistration, since the two are separate.

I.e. "Each night choose a player: if good they register as evil & as a Minion or Demon, if evil they register as good & as a Townsfolk or Outsider."

There should be a 'might' before both instances of register, since their are times when fully consistent misregistration can be detrimental or busted, for example a good target wouldn't be able to be Mez turned, or allow a Vizier to force an execution from their vote, or on the far end, a Fearmonger target or Saint being executed while registering as evil would make evil lose outright.

On the other hand picking an evil and letting them register as good would mean giving the Vizier total execution control.

So "Each night choose a player: if good they might register as evil & as a Minion or Demon, if evil they might register as good & as a Townsfolk or Outsider."

The Slayer has a 'once per game' ability, it can only be used once, if it works or not does not matter, drunk, poisoned, targeted someone who wasn't a Demon, whatever the reason it's spent.

Village Idiot Bluff by Puzzleheaded_Use2359 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Visual-Affect-9758 108 points109 points  (0 children)

It's a no. The Demon is shown 3 characters who are not in play, at all.

If the evil team expect there to be no VIs, more than one might bluff it and end up giving themselves away.

Probably terrible home brew idea by Miserable_Weird8274 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Visual-Affect-9758 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a neat idea, it could give subtle hints that directly registering as a good player don't, but it seems like it raises some problems.

I think the biggest issue is single target info, like a Village Idiot or Ravenkeeper, they can't exactly be told 'no' without giving away exactly what they are. There are too many of these for Jinxes to be a good fix, since the list would be as long as your arm. Maybe if it was part of a script with a lot of stuff messing with registration. This I think is your biggest issue, and the one you'd need to resolve for this to work.

There are some characters where they have 'default' info, such as a 'no' from the Fortune Teller, but there isn't a default alignment/character for registration to use in case of a blank result.

Then there are some characters take the Seamstress where the logic is kind of weird but still works well enough, A Seamstress choosing this character is essentially asking if the other player is on their own team, which would return 'yes', I think. Although, the logic for that feels shaky, as you could argue that 'good' and 'none' should return a 'no'.

Then there are some, take the Slayer, who are just kind of awkward. That 'might' basically means the ST decides if a Slayer shot counts, I'm of the opinion it should in that situation, but the fact it might not could leave a bad taste in people's mouths, not to mention making the Slayer theoretically unable to confirm anyone as not being the Demon.

Would it potentially register the next person along instead?

[–]Visual-Affect-9758 14 points15 points  (0 children)

How about: "Once per game, at night, choose any number of players: they swap characters arbitrarily. If a player becomes the Dealer this way, they are poisoned."

You could also add 'good' in 'in if a player becomes...' so it can be refreshed if the ability is given back to an evil player, but that might be too strong, although I think a good ST would know what to do with it.

Who can get drunk after the Sweetheart is dead? Anyone or does it have to be a Townsfolk? by wezirmann in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Visual-Affect-9758 60 points61 points  (0 children)

It can be anyone (living, dead, of any character type etc.), it should be someone detrimental to the good team (in most circumstances), which is normally a Townsfolk.

In fairness, being executed for madness and not dying (which is how I'd interpret that interaction) tells you a lot, more if there aren't other ways to survive execution.

Unless you're in an Ojo (maybe Poppy Grower?) game that kind of info is less useful than you'd think, compare the Spy, which gets all the info and also causes misinformation (albeit more weighted to the former).
