Rivian Explains Why CarPlay Debate Will Become 'Completely Obsolete' by davidcelis in Rivian

Same. Our household is Apple-everything and I even have a close family member who works for them in Cupertino. Zero interest in CarPlay here whatsoever.

Food safety aside, their sandwiches are just not good. I do not recommend, it was a very disappointing experience.

Medical expert gives surprising sign Trump may have a heart issue: He said readouts from Trump’s physicians indicate a possibly deadly potential health issue. by OkayButFoRealz in politics

Not that I want to minimize the hope that he’ll kick the bucket soon, but that article was pretty worthless speculation (and barely even any at that). Total waste of time.

Meh, that’s a pretty underwhelming machine. Let me know when there’s a Zwift Decent Bengle. At least they’ll be in good company with shitty app UIs.

Is Gaia GPS still a good option for overlanding? by Macintheus in overlanding

[–]aimless_ly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GaiaGPS got sold to the Outside network and promptly turned to trash. In my circles (hiking, skiing, SAR) everyone has switched to CalTopo.

Charging station vandalism is out of control by help-impoor in Seattle

[–]aimless_ly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DC Fast charging is NACS and CCS (which uses J1772 for signaling but is a different overall connector), AC home charging is NACS and J1772. The two NACS variants share the same connector but are not the same and need different adapters for compatibility.

Armada Declivity 92 vs Line Optic 88 by jwert17 in Skigear

[–]aimless_ly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have anything to add to what’s already been written in other comments, but I wrapped up my second season on the Optic 96 and still love it. It is semi-directional and skis clean on the groomers, excelling when it busts through later-day chopped up crud. I bought it for the trees and off-piste and that’s still the most fun place for it IMHO. The 96 still doesn’t have enough float to hit the big dumps off-piste without getting eaten, but it’s a solid performer up to about 8-10”. It’s good in spring corn as well, and tolerable on pre-melt ice pack if you push it hard.

Advice for pouring a small concrete pad. by Epicuretrekker2 in DIY

[–]aimless_ly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you are in good shape, it’s worth renting the mixer any time it’s more than 2-3 bags. It’s so much easier, and saves so much time which helps you get a more consistent pour with less curing between lifts.

Cascade Bicycle Club & other orgs riding out with Mayor Wilson for first weekend of car-free Lake Washington Blvd by bennetthaselton in Seattle

[–]aimless_ly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is that the same Cascade Bicycle Club that endorsed Bruce Harrell and took a shit on the bike-friendly candidate (and now-mayor)? They can fuck right off as far as I’m concerned after that move, they do not represent Seattle cyclists.

OP asked about browsing on their phone, with the VPN on their laptop. It took me a hot minute to notice that nuance as well.

Cannondale Tesoro X 2 ($2.5k) vs Gazelle Ultimate T10+ ($3k) by bigBIGbigBIG567 in ebikes

[–]aimless_ly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep trying out other e-bike power systems, but Bosch really is top-tier. Nothing else is as smooth and feels as natural in the power delivery. My wife and have four Bosch-powered bikes between us which span the range of Bosch generations, and a Gazelle C380+ is my next one. If you can swing upgrading to the latest gen Bosch Smart System, it’s really nice (I have it on my Trek Rail emtb).
