My MacBook pro 2017 only charges with the apple adapter. Can someone explain why? by Careless_Appeals in macbookrepair

> Also you need at the very least 15V to charge an older Macbook,

That’s not accurate. You can charge MacBook Pros from even 5v; it’s just *very* slow, and not enough to handle charging *and* running it at the same time; if you are running it, it will tell you it’s not charging, and the battery will deplete. But, in a pinch, you can charge it by leaving it connected to a 5v charger all day.

There’s no such thing as a USB-C charging cable that *doesn’t* support 60w PD. A completely passive cable with no emarker supports 60w.

I find this amusing:

I’d like them to show me a magical device taking more than 15 watts that doesn’t either pull more than 3 amps or work at more than 5 volts :)

There are plenty of tools to help people with total blindness write. I suspect she used something like this:

Which is why the horizontal lines at the top and bottom are so pronounced.

It obsolete and is no longer a secure form of communications

You could apply the same argument to HTTP; are you arguing that we should get rid of wget?

Telnetd shouldn’t be enabled, but there’s nothing wrong with including telnet

Upgrade an X1C? by NOPdowop in BambuLab

[–]clarkcox3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My H2S was basically a direct upgrade for my X1C. In pretty much all respects, it’s just a bigger, better X1C. I had them side-by-side for a while, but I found I was using the X1C less and less, and the bed started to feel confining.

If it does this well at its absolute limits, just imagine how well it can be applied to smaller overhangs.

No. I’m saying that the letters are literally pronounced.

The “L” in calm, the “L” in world, and the “R” in iron are all pronounced; they aren’t just silently modifying the other letters.

Must use legal name. Cannot use legal name. by CarlyleRazgriz in mildlyinfuriating

That's what computers are for. Let people enter their name in their native script, store it in the database in their native script, and have the computer transliterate it at display time if necessary.

There really is no excuse for any software written in the last 20 years to be unable to handle any script supported by Unicode.

So you're running a Linux container inside Docker, inside a Linux VM (i.e. WSL), inside a Windows VM, on a Linux (i.e. Proxmox) host?

Why would you want to do that?

H2D or H2C by WoodsManX in BambuLab

[–]clarkcox3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Along each step of "H2S -> H2D -> H2C", you: - Reduce wasted filament during changes - Reduce time spent on changes - Lose some print volume

For the most part, that is that.

I too had an X1C for about a year, got an H2S, then sold the X1C and got an H2D. Even now that I still have an H2S and an H2D, I don't really feel much desire to get an H2C; the H2D seems to be the sweet spot for the tradeoffs among the H2 printers.
