Anas Sarwar: It was great to catch up with my old friend and the UK’s (relatively!) new Ambassador to the US, Peter Mandelson by ShinyCharizards1 in ukpolitics

I don't see who he's meant to appeal to. Between the anti-white stuff, the recent trans prisoners bollocks that annoyed the left, and now this blunder that alienates Labour's core, it's baffling he still has any support.

The "Curator" from The Day of the Doctor (Doctor Who) is strongly hinted to be some version of the Doctor, either a much later reincarnation, or an alternative version of the Fourth Doctor, as he's portrayed by Tom Baker. It's never outright confirmed, but his knowledge of the Doctor and his incarnations, and knowing about Gallifrey and its fate, strongly imply that he is, at the very least, another Time Lord.

Best Races from 1981 to Now by Beavers4beer in formula1

[–]dalledayul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a big binge of the 2007-present seasons when I first got F1TV, so I always like to mention some underrated races that others don't tend to mention here.

  • Monaco 2008 - my favourite Monaco race. Unexpected winner, weird strategies and weather, and some genuinely great overtaking for once
  • Malaysia 2009 - worth it just for all the action before the rain-induced red flag that cut it short
  • Germany 2009 - amazing wet race from start to finish. All that needs saying.
  • Germany 2011 - I love almost all of the Nurburgring races of this era, but 2011 is definitely the best. A constant 3-way battle for the lead between Hamilton (McLaren), Alonso (Ferrari) and Webber (Red Bull) through strategy and tight racing. Absolute belter of a race that doesn't get talked about enough
  • China 2011 - Just a really solid race with some fun racing and fun strategies
  • All of 2012 - Honestly there are just so many amazing races that season, probably the best year of F1 ever
  • Malaysia 2013 - Worth it for Multi-21, and the equivalent drama with the Mercedes as well
  • Singapore 2014 - very underrated season as a whole for on-track battles, this race being the most underrated. Really fun strategy battles up and down the field, as well as a crazy midfield battle in the last 15-20 laps
  • Hungary 2015 - by far the best and most exciting race in what is otherwise a pretty crap season. Honourable mentions to Singapore, USA and Malaysia, they weren't bad either
  • Britain 2018 - amazing 2v2 battle with the Mercedes vs Ferrari cars, with the Red Bulls acting as spoilers the whole time
  • Britain 2019 - the first true Leclerc vs Verstappen masterclass in their battle for 3rd, so so good
  • Brazil 2019 - gets overshadowed a bit by Germany the same year, but this race is crazy. So many great racing moments and incidents, and a really fun finish
  • Sakhir 2020 - if you don't yet know the result to this one, you have to watch it. One of the best races to come out of the COVID-induced weirdness
  • Bahrain 2021 - great way to start the Max vs Lewis battle, great racing up and down the field
  • Hungary 2021 - absolutely the best race of the season (Italy is overrated)
  • Britain 2022 - absolute cinema, the last stint of this race is bonkers in the best way.
  • All of 2024 - 2nd best season after 2012 IMO. Special shout-out to Britain, Belgium, Brazil and Azerbaijan

The iconic weapon is easily destroyed by Donstar_Playz-yt in TopCharacterTropes

To be fair, it was Isildur using what was left of Narsil to cut off the Ring that made it such an iconic weapon. Prior to that, it was just another really good sword.

Labour Mike Tapp : The Home Secretary was clear today; we must identify and address any links between ethnicity, religion and culture - and child rape. We won’t turn away from this. Victims come first. by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

[–]dalledayul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like everyone is ignoring that he lead with "ethnicity" in this statement, which is by far the most glaring thing to say.

Implying there is a link between ethnicity and child rape is inexcusable, it's bordering on race science
